The trustees present the annual report and statements of Receipts and Payments and Assets and Liabilities for the Friends of Killinchy Primary School Trust for the year ended 5[th] April 2020.

Charitable purposes

The Trustees shall hold the capital and income of the Trust Fund upon trust to apply the income and all or such part or parts of the capital for or towards advancement of education of the pupils of Killinchy Primary School by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at Killinchy Primary School (not normally provided by the South Eastern Education and Library Board) and as an ancillary thereto and in furtherance of these aims and objects (a) to foster extended relationships between the staff parents and others associated with the said School in the Killinchy area in any way (b) to engage in activities which support Killinchy Primary School and advance the education of pupils attending the same at such time or times and in such manner as the Trustees may in their absolute discretion think fit.

Public benefits

Advancing the education of pupils in the school, the benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at Killinchy Primary school. Charity trustees are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

What our organisation does

Collection of personal contributions (Gift Aided where applicable) from parents or other family members of children who are at Killinchy Primary School and collection of personal contributions (Gift Aided where applicable) from other members of the public who have a tangible connection with Killinchy Primary School.

Achievements

The Trustees continued to hold the capital and income of the Trust Fund upon trust and applied the income towards the advancement of education and welfare of the pupils of Killinchy Primary School by providing and assisting funding to the value of £4,166.57.

This charitable action was gratefully received by the Principal of Killinchy Primary School, Mr Chris Currie. He communicated his thanks to the Trustees. The Board of Governors, staff and children of Killinchy Primary School appreciated the work of the Trust and were grateful for the ongoing support of the Trust. They benefited from £900 of funding which enabled Quantum Theatre to visit the School and deliver a

drama workshop. A data projector was purchased for use in the School at a cost of £2240. The Trust were also able to fund Bereavement Support services following the death of a pupil.

The Trust looks forward to continuing to work with the Principal and Board of Governors of Killinchy Primary School to increase the income of the fund and to enhance the education of all pupils at the school. It is the intention of the Trust to make a fresh appeal to parents and friends in October of the coming year for voluntary donations. Periodic reminders will be sent throughout Terms 1 & 2 each year.

Going Concern

The trustees have reviewed the budgets for the year ahead and are satisfied that there are adequate funds in place to ensure that the Trust can continue its activities and the financial statements for the year ended 5[th] April 2020 can be signed off as a going concern.

Structure, Governance and Management

Governing Document and Constitution of the Charity

Friends of Killinchy Primary School is governed by the Trust Deed and the fund is managed by the appointed Trustees.

Pay and remuneration

The Trustees are not in a paid capacity. They are all acting on a voluntary basis. There is no remuneration to report.

Organisational Structure

The Trustees are responsible for the day to day management of the Fund.

The Trust is chaired by the Mr Garfield McCreery. The Trustees are responsible for making decisions on matters of general concern and importance to the Trust including deciding how funds are to be applied.

The Trustees meet at times fixed by the members. Special meetings may be convened at any time by the chairperson.

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Report and the statement of receipts and payments and statement of assets and liabilities in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
