The Board of Trustees presents its report and financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2025.

Purposes of the charity
The aims of the Society are to educate the public in the dramatic and operatic arts, to further the development of public appreciation and taste in the said arts, to assist and further such charitable institutions and charitable purposes as the Committee may from time to time determine.
How our charity activities deliver public benefit
Activities
LMS had another very ousy time for tne season July 2024 to June 2025. The LMS annual concert, “A Night of Musicals” was held on Thursday 5" December 2024 which featured, two other choirs from St Cecilia’s College and Class Act Theatre Group, the Britannia Band and local musicians. We sang at two iocai festive events, The Guildhall Craft Fair in November 2024 and at the St Columb’s Christmas Festival in December 2024. The annual musical theatre production was Oklahoma! and ran from 9"" to 12th April 2025. Some committee members and the choreographer attended the AlMS award ceremony in Killarney on 14" June 2025 where LMS won Runner up awards Best Stage Management, Best Choreography, Best Ensemble for “The Dream Bailet” sequence, Best Male Singer and Best Male Actor. Our valued member, Vaierie hasiett, also received a nomination for Tne Mary Keily Awara. On 7in June 2025, we held our annual Garden Party at Oak Gardens and on the same evening our member, Kieran Connor, who played Fagin in our 2024 production of Oliver, was awarded the NODA Outstanding Actor Award at a ceremony in Hereford. Our season finale was a production of the humorous play, “Stepping Out,” in the New Gate Arts and Culture Centre from 25" to 27 June 2025. Through ail our many events, we are proud to raise substantial money for many charities close to our hearts and continue to provide a platform for the cid and new members to perform.

Public benefit

The public benefits which flow from our activities are as follows:

e The education of young and oid from aii parts of the community in the dramatic and operatic arts of acting, singing and dancing, through membership of the Society. Participation in our activities give young and old the confidence to perform, not only with the Society but in many other evenis in the area bringing the aris to a wide range of the local population.

e The Society brings a very high standard of production to the general public in the local area and enables our audiences to enjoy and appreciate the arts of acting, singing and dancing through the medium of musical shows and concerts. Our audiences have the opportunity to enjoy musicals, concerts and plays which they mighi not otherwise see.

e A large number of charities in the local area and beyond have benefitted from our annuai Showsioppers Conceris, which have heiped to raise considerabie sums of money.
In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year the trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern ireland’s guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity’s purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries. Our aims, objectives and activities are reviewed, monitored and assessed through our ongoing programme of regular committee meetings.
Financial review
Financial position
The trustees report a financial position at the year end with available funds of £62,837. These funds are heid to ailow for the development of the Society and to meet preliminary cosis of planned events for the incoming year.
Structure, governance and management.
Governing document
The governing document of the charity is its constitution which sets out the charity’s purposes. The charity is registered with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. Recruitment and appointment of management committee The Society is administered by a committee who are irusiees of the charity for the purposes of Charity Law. The trustees have the power to appoint a new trustee to fill a vacancy.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE CHARITY TRUSTEES OF LONDONDERRY MUSICAL SOCIETY
i report on the accounts of Londonderry Musicai Society for the year ended 30 June 2025, which are set out on pages 4 to 5.
Respective responsibilities of charity trustees and examiner
As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
It is my responsibility to:
® examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act; e foliow the procedures iaid down in ihe generai Directions given by the Commission under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act; and
e state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
| have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination was carried out in accordance with the generai Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act.
My examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. it also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as charity trustees concerning any such maiters.
My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention giving me cause to believe:

That accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 63 of the Charities Act;

That the accounts do not accord with those accounting records;
-
That the accounis do not comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act; and 4. That there is further information needed for a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
