LISBURN 2GETHER SPECIAL OLYMPICS CLUB
The Trustees of Lisburn 2gether Special Olympics Club are pleased to report that all sports of bocce, football, swimming, badminton and 10 pin bowling continue to be very successful with all clubs having waiting lists.
Bocce, football and badminton athletes who were selected and took part in Special Olympics Ireland Games all came home with a range of gold, silver and bronze medals. From these Ireland Games Lisburn 2gether had one badminton athlete selected to be part of ‘Team Ireland’ and will represent her club and Country in the 2019 Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.
As well as participating in Special Olympic Competitions each sport has also taken part in Inter-Club competitions, the Irish Football Association League, the IFA George Best Community Cup, Disability Swim NI, the Irish 4 Nations Parabadminton Championships and the Ulster Badminton League.
The success of the club is due entirely to the dedication and commitment of volunteers who attend faithfully each week to assist and coach athletes in their chosen sport. Volunteers not only coach but their interaction builds confidence and helps shape athletes future to be a happier and healthier one.
We are extremely grateful to parents, carers and sponsors for their continued support of the club and look forward to another successful year ahead.
