The Trustees have pleasure in presentin8 their report and the receipts and payments
account for the year ended 31 March 2023.
PRINCIPAL AcfiviTIES AND OBJECTS
Through its continuin8 SUPPOrt of the ethos of Friends School Lisburn as an educational
establishment open to all religious persuasions, the Association endeavours to encourage
the development and maintenance of high educational standards and facilities. The main
ways in which this is delivered are a) through the publication of an Old Scholars magazine
which showcases current pupils, work and achievements and maintains links with the lives
and achievements of former pupils locally and nationally and b) providing financial support
for awards and projects within the school. Pupils and former pupils benefit from this and
the wider community also benefits through the sound education received by future
en8ineer5, doctors, teachers etc passin8 throu8h the school.
GOVERNANCE
The Association is 8overned through the rules of its constitution.
REVIEW
The Trustees are content that the objetts of the charity are being delivered in line with the
public benefit guidance issued by the Charity Commission for N l. The Association is open to
all who have passed through Friends School Lisburn and there is no harm flowin8 from the
purposes of the charity. No private benefits ensue.
No fundraising event5 were held in the year but in order to re-generate membershlp
interest and re-establish fellowship spirit following the effects of the Covid pandemic a
President's Evening was held. Whilst this ran at a deficit of £4,751 both the Trustees and
members appreciated the chance to re-enga8e. In line with its objects the charity was able
to contribute £1,461 {2022: £1,344) towards the cost of the Old Scholars magazine.
The Trustees are grateful to the committee members, who are volunteers and carry out the
day to day functions of the charity, and to all those who contribute articles to the magazine.
FUTURE PLANS
The Trustees will continue to promote the objects of the Association and to further develop
the possibility of distribution of the magazine in digital format.
RISK MANAGEMEKr
The Trustees regularly consider the reputational and financial risks that might arise and
consider the procedures in place to mitigate those risks.

TRUSTEES, RESPONSIBILITIES
The Trustees are required to prepare accounts for each financial year and have these
independently examined and are responsible for maintaining proper accounting records.
They are also responsible for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
TRUSTEES
A Pearson and M Boyd served throughout the year. A Mccausland was appointed on 22
March 2023.

RESULTS
The excess of expenditure over income for the year was £2,657 compared with £1,776 for
the previous year.
