## _**Background information about the area in which Holly Tree operates**_ 

_The Holly Tree Trust will use education both in Developing Countries and the UK to promote an understanding and knowledge among young people in line with the Millennium Goals_ 

## _**Why the group is needed**_ 

_The group is needed to facilitate the opportunity for children completing secondary reduction in developing countries (initially Malawi and Bangladesh) from poor backgrounds to have access to a grant that will enable them to pursue third level in country education. It will also facilitate secondary level education students in NI and the rest of the UK to gain experience of developing countries through placement work experience in Developing countries._ 

_**Exact details on how Holly Tree benefits people**_ 

_The Holly Tree Trust will benefit underprivileged students in developing countries in getting an education and also students in the UK in gaining an understanding of Developing countries and the problems they face._ 

## _**Examples of projects or activities the group has carried out in the past,**_ 

## _**as well as a description of our present activities or future plans**_ 

_The Holly Tree Trust is a new body and therefore has no past activities. A description of present and future activities involves the supporting students and teachers from a number of local schools who wish to spend their work placement weeks in a Developing Country by supporting and enhancing education and links to that Developing Country._ 

## _**How the group is run**_ 

_The group is run on a voluntary basis by 4 trustees, and other volunteers who will help in fund raising, management of grants and monitoring of outcomes._ 

## _**Details of any payments to committee members**_ 

_No payment are to be made to committee members. All work undertaken is voluntary._ 

_**Overseas  work**_ 

_The committee contains several individuals who have worked in developing counties for organizations such as UN, World Bank, Department for International Development as well as NGOs and will evaluate risk at the grant application stage. The organization or individual receiving support will be responsible for their own risk management and organization of any trips. The risk associated with grants to applicants to university in Developing Countries will be controlled by grant financial limits at the time of offer and by a vetting and performance monitoring process._ 

**Activity Review:  A review of the charity’s activities at the end of the year.** _The charity's purpose and public benefits remain unchanged. With regard to activity the accounts of the organsiation._ PT _**The charity remains solvent but is dormant and has carried out no activities.**_ **Statement that the trustees have had regard to the Commission’s Public benefit requirement statutory guidance** PT _The charity trustees note that they are legally obliged to have regard to this guidance and have complied with the guidance._
