Charity Statement
The Kilcooley Community Action Group has in recent years been leading the way in engaging and providing fun and inclusive programs for everybody in the local area.
The membership of the organisation has been working tirelessly on a voluntary basis within the Kilcooley community since our foundation in 2006 and has had great success in attracting ‘hard to reach’ groups of people and bringing them in from the cold.
KCAG also knows the importance of working with young people and the volunteers of the group are committed to ‘planting the trees’ to coin a phrase and, allow our future generations to ‘get the shade.’
We have provided below a brief overview of the meetings’ the group attends, events they have organised and community education courses we have facilitated.
What our Charity does
The KCAG is a voluntary community organisation. The aims of this group is provide the local area with a forum group that bring together all sections of the community to work towards the common goal of developing community participation and social cohesion, thus creating a safer environment for different cultures to mix and progress towards a Shared future.
Much of the work is focused on young people who fall into the category of NEETS – Not in Education, Employment, or Training. We focus on these young people who may be school leavers or young people aged 16 to 24 who are wishing to improve their skills, education, or employability. We therefore assist these young people to gain the correct education so they may reach their desired goals and become the best to their ability.
The group also works with older people in the area thus breaking down age barriers and intergenerational perceptions to create a more harmonised community between the young people and more senior residents of Kilcooley.
Each year KCAG host festivals and children’s fun days for the residents of Kilcooley and the wider community, we feel it is important to instill a sense of community within Kilcooley and find that festivals and fun days bring people of all ages together to strengthen already existing relationships whilst creating new friendships.
