Trustee annual report forthe yearto 31st DECEMBER 2023
The trustees present their annual report combining Committee report and the
unaudited financial accounts for the financial year ending 31 st December 2023
The financial statements are prepared in accordance with FRS 102-The Financial
Reportingstandard forcharities appLicabLe in the UK and RepubLic of Ireland.
The Trustee Report contains the information required to be provided in the Trustees
Annu&l Report under the statement of recommended practice ISORPI. In these financial
statements U3A has implemented the recommendations of FRS102 where relevant.
MISSION STATEMENT AND ACTIVITIES
The Charity's principal activities continue to be to advance education and to promote
preservation and protection of health and wellbeing among middle-aged and older
people who are not in full-time employment and to promote the benefit of older people
in Newry and its environs.
STRUCTURE GOVERNANCEAND MANAGEMENT
U3A acts under the governc?nce of its constitution. The charity is affiliated to the Third
Age Trust which coordinates U3A groups within the UK.

TRANSACTIONS INVOLVING TRUSTEES
During the year Trustees were reimbursed for expenses of £734 incurred on behalf of the
charity.

OBJECTIVES ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE DURING THEYEAR,
Our membership numbers have continued to increase in the past year. We have 426
members as of December 2023. Membership continues to grow significantly towards
the numbers we had before covid.
As shown in the financial statements, during the year we commenced work on our new
premises at Ballybot House in Newry. The project is ongoing in the new financial year.
We hope this WILL add interest and impetus to our efforts going forward.
INTERESTGROUPS AND ACTIVITIES
Interest groups are the core of U3A and each year new groups are formed based on
request trom members. Activities include walking. cycLing, golf, language learning,
bridge, wine tasting and gardening. New groups continue to be established.
