The trustees have read the Commission's Public Benefit requirement statutory guidance and have had regard to this
when running the charity.
The Centre was established as Ballycastle Bowling Club in 1909 and became known as Ballycastle Bowling and Social
Recreatt'on Centre188SRCI on 14th day of August 2004. Recognised as a Charity with HMRC as The Charity
Commission for Northern Ireland. The char￿tY is governed by a constitution last amended 14, Novernber 2023.

The Year in Review:
The centre welcomed 44 members and numerous Vlsltors throughout the ycar.
To continue providin8 3 competr'tive sporh'ng platform for members the centre was affiliated to Northern
Ireland Provincial Bowling Associatr'on INIPBAI and the Irish 8owlinE Association118AI, with two teams once
agoin taking part in league fi"xtures, The A Team competed in NIPBA Division I with matches being played on
a Tuesday night. Our B Team competed in NIPBA Oivision 3 with matches being played on a Wednesday
night. It was a learning season as both teams linishod in a rc5pectable mid table posits'on with many new
bowlers gaining experience of compctitivc matchplay and cnjoying the social benelits of being part of a
team.
Due to the diffi'culty of fielding two tearn5 Qn a Saturday, the committee took the decision to enter only one
team into the IBA Intermediate Cup. Unfortunately the club was defeated in the 1st round by Dunbarton
Although the result was disappointing the day was an enjoyable experience from a social perspective as the
club h05ted o meal in 8allyc35ilc Golf Club for the team and our visitors with many non playinE Members
also in attendance.
Two pre-season friendlies were held. Our annua5 fixture with Dunluce took place in Ballycastle and a coach
trip to Larne Bowling & Lawn Tennis Club was organised with 20 members artending, an enjoyable day was
had by all as our hosts provided a generou5 Post match supper and mid game refreshments.
The club held Fun Rinks on a Monday evening. This was open to mcmbcr5 and non members of all ages and
abilities, providing an opportunity to play bowls in a casual, less competitive environmenl and promotin8
the positive mental and physical health beneh'ts of light exercise and group participation. The rinks ran
throughout the summer months and were extremely well attended.

A new plbying kit was purchased with shirts. jackets. hoodies. bottoms and shorts available. The club made
the decision to subsidi5e the kit for members with the remaining funds being generated from sponsorships
kindly provided by Ballycasile Credit Union Ltd and Agri Plant Spares Capecastle.
The cornmunity h311 was made available to various local 8fOUPS and organisations throu8hout the year with
the rental helping to generate additional income. Sonkei Judo Club continued to make weekly use of the
facility providing judo classes for both adults and children. The lam Project held several event5 for the
public. helping to raise awareness and provide support to those who may be experiencing mental health
issues. Solas Moyle. Rathmoyle Resource Centre, Bèllycastle Men's Shed and St Patrick's & St Brigid's Indoor
Bowling Club all made use of the centre and it5 facilities for 50ci3l gatherings, public events, meeting5 and
sporting purposes.
It became apparent that P05t pandemic, local club5 and societies were struggling to fi.nd suitable space in
the Ballycastle area to contrnue operatr.ng and we were delighted to be able to host and facilitate their
needs. It is fantastic to see $0 many varied group5 and individuals making use of our facilitr"es, confirming
the centre'5 appeal to people from all walks of lifc.
The centre provided a platform for local businesses to support ihe club by purchasing advertisin8 signage,
with 8 establishments availing of the grounds with sponsorship payments conlributinR to our annual
running costs. The trustees express their thanks to those who continue to SUPPOrt the centre.
Taking part in "The Big Community Vote" we were successful in a shared bid with Ballycastle Utd Football
Club, Ballycastle Tennis Club, McQuillan's GAC and the Causeway Giant's American Football Team to obtain
new sPOrt5 cquipmcnt. In an attempt to encouragc younger mcmbers and make the 8ame of bowls more
accessible the funds were used to purchase target wed8es and mats.
Over 20 school children from Cross & Passion College artended the green for an introductory session of
bowling. The group were joined by coaches Gary & Donna Mccloy of Ballybrakes Bowls, who Set up dri115
and games for the pupils to take part in. The afternoon was u5od to help foster and promote the inclusivity
of the game and to help address the stigma that bowls is a sport for an older gencrah"on.
The year concluded with an end of season dinner and awards night for members of the centre, familv
members & friends. We were kindly hosted by 8allycastle Golf Club and the evening provided a fi.nal
opportunity for members to come together in a social capacity, celebrate our individual and collective
achievements, enjoy a meal and a disco.
The trt15tees would like to express their gratitude to all those who held office durin8 the year. volunteered on
committees or simply gave up their time to assist with the Tunning of the centre.
A review of the charity's financlal position at the end of the year:
In the fi'nancial year 2022 to 2023, The Charity had an income of £8929 and an expenditure of £7879. There are no
fund5 by the charity that are materially in delicit.
