complied with their duty to have due regard to the Charity Commission's public benefit
guidance when exercising any powers or duties to which the guidance is relevant. The

which we may not have been able to continue our work within the local rural community.
Charitable purposes
The purposes of the charity are:
1. The relief of need and the advancement of education of the inhabitants of the
Broomhedge area and its environs in Broughmore, Englishtown, Lurganure, Moyrusk
and Ballynalargy (hereinafter described as the area of benefit") without distinction of
age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion. It will so do by associating the
statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to
advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of the social welfare,
education, recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the
conditions of life for the said inhabitants,.
2. To advance knowledge and appreciation of the Ulster-Scot8 Language and culture
and to encourage understanding and acceptance of all indigenous cultures to the
area of benefft.
Publlc benefits
Purpose One The benefit is for all inhabitants within the environs of Ballynalargy,
Broughmore, Englishtown, Lurganure and Moyru8k. The direct benefit flowing from this, 18 a
8afe and neutral facility for the residents to use for meetings or training courses. The benefit
is evidenced by word of mouth from the attendees and from feedback via evaluation forms
following the particular events. Further benefits include a more vibrant and inclusive society
via the educational programmes and recreational activities but this has been curtailed this
year as we emerge from the coronavirus pandemic. The benefits are evidenced through the
diverse set up within the organisation and through feedback generated from the activities
facilitated by the organi8ation.
Purpose Two: This benefit is for all within the Ballynalargy, Broughmore, Englishtown,
Lurganure and Moyrusk community. The direct benefit flowing from this a more infomied
society and healthier community lifestyle, giving a better standard of living conditions and
environment. This is evidenced by feedback both qualitative and quantitative,

community in this isolated rural area. The direct charitable activities provided social
interaction and learning opportunities for all sections of the community of all ages. Wè
provided facilities for social, recreational and educational activity where we have been able
to give the local community the opportunity to leam new skills and improve existing skills. All
programmes were delivered through the principle of equality, in an effort to advance
education and to preserve the environment and heritage within the area. Our objective is to
improve the overall well-being of our local community and to provide a fun, leaming

The Trustees would like to thank all the volunteers and members of thè community who
attended and supported these events. Throughout the year we engaged with Lisburn &
Castlereagh City Council, Ulster- Scots Agency and other local statutory and voluntary

Restrlction8 on who can benefit.
Throughout the year restrictions on who can benefrt from our direct charitable activities were
managed and mitigated by reducing to a minimum or removing, where possible, admission
fees to our events and ensuring safe access to our facilities was maintained for all activities.
Harm.
Our purposes do not lead to any harm. There are several policies in place 8uch as
Safeguarding Policy, Health and Safety Policy and Financial Procedural Policy which are
regularly reviewed and at the Annual General Meeting. The Trustees of Lower Broomhedge
