Tullycarnet Ac-on Group Ini-a-ve Trust aims to relieve poverty, sickness and help the aged and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of 'Tullycarnet and its environment (hereina@er described as "the area of benefit") without dis-nc-on of age, sex, race, poli-cal, religious or other opinion, by associa-ng the statuary authori-es, voluntary organisa-ons and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance educa-on, and to provide facili-es in the interests of social welfare for recrea-on or other leisure--me occupa-on, with the object of improving the condi-ons of life for the said inhabitants; as stated within our cons-tu-on.
To ensure we meet our aims TAGIT commiJee and volunteers have con-nued this year to facilitate and assist in the running of programs for the residents of Tullycarnet by providing support in the following areas:
Tullycarnet Boxing Club - TAGIT have con-nued this year to provide support to the members and volunteers of Tullycarnet Boxing Club as they con-nue on their journey opera-ng their new club. Tullycarnet Boxing Club has con-nued to see member growth and have taken a key focus in female boxing classes and 121 sessions with their trained IABA coaches.
Tullycarnet Community Football Club con-nues to receive support from TAGIT through educa-on, mental health and drug awareness training for the players and coaching staff at all ages and levels. Cyber security and online bullying had been a big focus this year especially within the adolescent age groups who are engaging more now in social media than ever before. As always, we offer our con-nued support to TCFC in the current and upcoming seasons and wish them every success.
Another year and another July fes-val, July 23 has been our biggest and best to date. We had a key focus and worked closely with Belfast City Council this year on Health & Safety at such events and was good to get the all clear from their H&S team on how we delivery our events. Engagement from our young people around bonfires and culture was phenomenal and they were a huge credit to themselves and the community. Supported by Belfast City Council bonfire management fund Tullycarnet celebrated their culture events from 10[th] July through to 14[th] July with many events taking place including Inflatables, BBQ and tradi-onal bonfire on 11[th] July.
As Christmas 2022 approached, TAGIT volunteers again worked -relessly to organised some Christmas fes-ve fun for all the community to get involved. Christmas par-es, Games, Discos, Senior Ci-zens Christmas lunch and not forge^ng a visit from Santa. As with our Tullycarnet Christmas tradi-on TAGIT organised a tree of reflec-on in the community remembrance garden for families to place their Christmas baubles in remembrance of family members who are no longer with us.
As TAGIT con-nues to support the Tullycarnet community we must acknowledge the working rela-onships volunteers have with local statutory agencies including Police Service Northern Ireland, Belfast City Council, Northern Ireland Housing Execu-ve to name a few who support many of TAGITs yearly projects.
Future aims of TAGIT
TAGIT will con-nue to engage with statutory agencies to support local vulnerable residents of Tullycarnet including a huge focus on mental health support to men in par-cular. TAGIT have supported the set up and growth of a local men’s mental health group “Men’s Minds MaJer” which has around 70 male members who come together every Friday to have group sessions, food and just somewhere to go and people to be around who may also have challenges. This group has proved a great success and we look forward to suppor-ng them further.
Con-nue to work and engage with groups within Tullycarnet Neighborhood Collec-ve (TNC) whilst sharing funding opportuni-es to support all areas of the community.
