Grand Royal Arch Purple Chapter of Ireland

Auditors' Report, 2023

At the invitation of the Grand Treasurer the Grand Auditors met with him, to examine the General Account and the Benevolent Fund account of Grand Chapter. The following Auditors examined the records: Bro. John Harcourt, Bro. Norman Gray and Bro. Nevin Hamilton.

All books, vouchers, bank statements and records relating to both funds were made available, the end date for both funds being 30[th ] November 2023 .

Following careful scrutiny and cross checking of the income and expenditure for both accounts the auditors agreed that as presented these statements gave a true overview of the standing of both accounts.

The records relating to both accounts and funds have been kept in exemplary manner, clearly and orderly filed, making the checking of individual records easily accessible and the task in hand straightforward. All queries from the auditors were answered to their complete satisfaction.

The auditors note once again that incorrect information is still supplied on some grant applications, making it difficult to process these and leading to delayed grant payments.

The Grand Treasurer is once again to be highly commended for his diligence and work in looking after the accounts and funds and rectifying the many shortcomings.

We would draw the attention of the members of Grand Chapter to the following: For the year 2022-2023 the General Account shows a sizable surplus.

The Benevolent Fund account shows that, post Covid, grant applications have reverted to levels of former years compared with previous years . The surplus in this Fund is just over £10,000, this reduction due to increased demands on the Fund It was noted that a disproportionate number of grants arrived on 29[th ] and 30[th ] November, this despite Grand Treasurers request at Grand Chapter in Jan 2023

Thankfully income from Church Services has recommenced to previous levels.

The investments have been added to again, the value of which encouragingly have increased despite fears of Brexit and Covid.

The number of acknowledgments from grant recipients in relation to the volume of grants distributed continues to remain disappointingly low.
