REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED
31 MARCH 2025
The Trustees present their Annual Report, and Statement of Receipts and
Payments, and Assets and Liabilities for The Glens & Dalriada U3A Group, for the
year ended 31 March 2025.
OBJECTIVES & ACTIVITIES
The Charity's principal activities are concerned with the advancement of
education of the public leading to a more informed local community.
The objetts of the Glens and Dalriada U3A group are as follows
(i)
to advance the education of the public and in particular the
education of older people no longer full time gainful employment
in the Glens and Dalriada area and its surrounding locality.
the provision of facilities for leisure time and recreational activities
with the objert of improving the conditions of life for the above
persons in the interests of their social welfare.
The Charity provides a large number of varying artivities i.e. Language Courses
in French and Irish, Bridge, Badminton, etc. All but three of the attivities are
provided and tutored by the charity's own voluntary members with Irish, Chair
Yoga and T'ai chi having external tutors.
The Charity also hold regular meetings, where the whole group meet together to
listen to a stimulating guest speaker.
PUBLIC BENEFITS
The direct benefits that flow from purpose (i) are advanced educational
outcomes leading to a more informed local community. The direct benefit that
flows from purpose {ii) is that the community comes together leading to reduced
social isolation.
These benefits are demonstrated by feedback forms, the number of members of
our organisation & the number of people who attend our lettures and education
courses. The charity's beneficiaries are the people of the Glens and Dalriada area
with particular emphasis on the older generation. There is no harm or private
benefit flowing from our purposes.
ACHIEVEMENTS & PERFORMANCE
The Charity is a non-profit making organisation. The results are set out in detail
on pages 6 to 8.
The Charity has successfully provided a wide range of artivities to its, target
group in the year. The Charity has expanded its range of activities in the last
year, introducing new sporting activities such as pickle ball, health related
activities such as chair yoga and mental activities such as Puzzle Hour. It has
also expanded the range of speakers at its Monthly meetings, resulting in more

people choosing to join the charity as members and more people participating in
activities than ever before.
Where appropriate and where members find it more convenient the Chairty has
continued to provide some of its activities through the use of Zoom technology.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The Statement of Financial Artivities, on page 7 indicates that The Glens and
Dalriada u3a Group had incoming resources of £25,334 in the year. The
expenditure for the year was £22,553. There was an overall surplus for the year
of £2,781.
RISK MANAGEMENT
The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the Charity is exposed, in
particular those related to the operations and finances of the Charity, and are
satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate the exposure to the major risks.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing Document
The organisation is registered with the NI Charity Commission as of 15
September 2014 - Charity No. 100643.
Appointment of Trustees
There are currently nine Trustees. DLJring the year two Trustees, Joseph Ferris,
and Patrick O'Donnell retired from their roles. In their place Dominic McNabb and
Maureen Turner were appointed as new Trustees.
Trustee Induction and Training
New members undergo an orientation day to brief them on: their legal
obligations under charity and company law, the charity commission guidance on
public benefit, and inform them of the content of the Charity's constitution, the
committee and decision-making processes, the business plan and recent
financial performance of the charity. During the induction day they meet key
office holders and other members. Members are encouraged to attend
appropriate external training events where these will facilitate the undertaking of
the role.
Organisation
Day to day running of the charity is managed by the Chairman, the Secretary
and the Vice-chairrfreasurer. They meet regularly to review and monitor project
progress and update the remaining Trustees through management committee
meetings as appropriate.
Related parties and co-operation with other organisations
None of the Trustees receive remuneration or other benefit from their work with
the charity. Any connection between a Trustee of the charity with a contracted
supplier must be disclosed to the full management committee in the same way
as any other contrattual relationship with a related party. In the current year no
such related party transactions were reported.

TRUSTEE RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustee's Annual Report
and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and
International Accounting Standards (IAS).
The law applicable to charities in Northern Ireland with income of less
than £250,000 requires the Trustees prepare a Statement of Receipts and
Payments and a Statement of Assets and Liabilities for each financial year.
The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that
disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the
Charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements
comply with the Charities Act. They are also responsible for safeguarding
the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the
prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
In so far as the Trustees are aware:
there is no relevant information of which the Charity's Independent
Verifier is unaware; and
the Trustees have taken all steps that they ought to have taken to
make themselves aware of any relevant information and to establish
that the independent verifier is aware of that information.
INDEPENDENT VERIFIER
A resolution proposing that Mr Mark Kilgore be appointed as Independent
Verifier was passed at the Annual General Meeting.
