The Society is an unincorporated association established under a constitution.

oses and activities
The Societ￿5 purpose is to provide education aimed at promoting, sustaining and increasing
individual and collective knowledge and understanding of horticulture, gardening and the
environment in the Portadown and surrounding area. These were well attended and are
summari5ed below:
Aprll: ￿e1rd and Whacky Plant ShO￿- Michael Perry, who travels the world in search of new
plants, gave a very interesting talk about his discoveries.
September: Your of Mahon Garden Centre"_ This Outing gave members an insight into the work
involved in a Garden Centre.
October: "A tale of Two Garden5"
Conrad Mccormick gave a talk detailing the move from hls
previous house through the creation of his new exotic garden and the challenges it presented.
November: "The Making of a Gardener and a Garden"_ David Maxwell, a well known TV and Radio
Broadcaster gave a talk on the creation of a garden.
December: A Christmas Lunch was held at which Linda Lyons demonstrated the making of floral
arrangements.
January: "The Bees Knees"
John Lambe, a member of our Society, gave u5 a look at solitary bees
with an emphasis on the Mason Bee and flowers as pollinators throughout the year.

February: "Shady Plants and Shady Place<- Maurice Parkinson showed ways in which the shady
areas of gardens could be made to come alive.
March: "50 Favourites.
Richard Barnes, a Chartered Landscape Architert. took us on a virtual tour
of his garden showing us the plants he had chosen as his favourites

and other Members of the public attending.

The Society's accounts demonstrated that the financial performance for the year ended 31 March
2023 was satisfactory and the reserves at year end were adequate to meet the anticipated
expenditure In the incoming year.
