Structure
YMCA Lurgan is a company limited by guarantee. The ccryany is governed by its Memorandum and Articles of
Association, and has been granted charitable status by the Inland Revenue (Ref No XN 793941 and accordingly is
exempl from income tax, Corporation tax and capital gains tax. 11 15 also registered with the Charty Commission for
Northem Ireland {Reg No 100606) and Compank8S House (Reg No Nl 0630941

YMCA Luigan is managed by a Tnjstee Board of Management whose members are elected al its Annual General
Meeting. In tho 23124 period, the AGM look place on 12th February 2024. when Honorary Office Bearers wore
ele¢ted to serve on the Board of Management. induding a Chairperson. Chairper$on, T￿aSurer and
Secretary. Members of the Board of Managemènt Trustaè$ are listed previously under the Trustee's and Other
Information section.
The Trustees are also registered •$ Company D￿e¢tOrn.
Governance
The Board of Management Thl on 10 o¢ca$ion$ in the 2Y24 period for general Boarf Meetings and for ts Annu81
AGM. None of the Trustees reeeived remuneralion for their services. Day to day operational and programme
delivery is the responsibilty of th6 Ch￿f Executrve and the operational staff team. As well as the monthly Board of
Management meetings. a Finance sub group meet on a monthly basis lo review finances and lo consider strategic
financial operations and a Health and Safetylchild protecI￿an sub group meet up to 4 limes per year, lo oversee
compliance and reporting in these areas. Both sub groups report lo and advise the full Management Board al the
monthly.me6lings.
Staff Pay Policy
St8ff pay salaries are based on • job evaluation system refiethng job rokn and responsibil¢ties with Salaries telng
sel against a YMCA Pay Scale.
YMCA Lurgan also operate a wothplace penslon scheme wrth Cushon Nl Ltd.
In the 23124 period a 3Qh Cost of Living salary increase was awarded lo all staff in accordance with YMCA Pay
Scale de￿$lOn$. with one job evaluation taking place which ￿sUlted in an incrementsl pay incxease In addi(ion lo
the Cost of LNing rise. Durin9 this financial year, YMCA Lur9an employed 9 staff.

Volunteers
YMCA Lurgan is dependent on the contribulion of volunteers to support t*)th the delwery of programmes and
services and also for providing sliategic and opefational oversight of its actNities. In the 23124 approximately 17
adult volunteers {including Trustee$l were involved wrth YMCA Lurgan in fundratsing, programme delivery and
strategic management. During the year, volunteers were recrurted for specific area$ ofwork which resulted in new
volunteers joining our team. We also delivered a volunteer induction programme for our younger volunteeis aged
16-18 yr olds. with 6 young peop￿ completing. increasing our numbef of young volunteers lo 15. This engagement
ha$ enhanced our services throughout the year and extr8nwty important in tems of soeial capital and ￿rnMUnIty
Involvement. We continue to follow best pradice slandards with to volunteerfng.

The Board of Management has assessed the major risks lo which the company Is exposed, In partI￿18r lo the
operations and finances of the Charity, and is satisfied that systems and pl0￿dureS are in place to mitigate our
exp¢yJure to the major risks.
The organisalion has a risk register which is prepared by the CEO and staff and which is reviewed by the Board ot
Management. This reg551er Seeks lo summarise the thfeals. actions or events that might adversely affect the
organisalion's ability to athieve ts objectives. As such Trustees seek to avoid unnecessary risks, and mitigat&

Engagement programmes as outlined below
Youth Work Provlslon
During the 23124 period. there were 5 lunded youth WO￿ programm88 delivered. These included our Corn Youlh
Woik Provision, Youth Cuwural Expression and Planned Intervention programmes funded through the Education
Authority. a Neighbourhood Renewal project fvnded through the Department of Communities and the continuation
of the Independent LNing Programme funded through the Soulhem Heakh and Social Care Trust.
YMCA Luoan continues to delNer hwJh quality youth Provision. We work alongside partngrs including sodal
seNiees, other local voluntary 8rKI slatutory organisalions. PSNI, PCSP. ABC Council, local Schools and chur¢he¥
to ensure that our youth provision is needs based and complementary.
YMCA Lurg8n provides EA Funded youth provision over 4 nights a week. During the year. the provision included
four weekly generic drop in youth dub sessions. and a further weekly sessions whith offered more targeted
programme$ for smaller groups. based on Klentffied needs.

0￿r the past year, YMCA Lurgan o)ordinaled the 6th Independent LNing Progfamme in partnership with the
SHSCT Short Breaks Scheme wth Chiklren's Disability Services. The programme supports the theme$ of
exploration and personal growth with the key focus being on the L*re outcome areas of Sooal DevelopmenL
Personal Development and Independent Living Skills with young people who have learning andlor physical
disabilities. The programme look place weekly each Tuesday during term lime. with a more intense week-long
summer scheme delNered in August. Added lo this. monthty Saturday sessions were delivered as well as an
ovemighl residential .

Wrth support from ABC counal as well as Awards for all Funding through the Communlty Fund, wg were able to
open our doors even wider lo the local community. YMCA Lurgan was able lo continue
ils provision of pr&Jrammes and a￿$$ lo services for the wider community over the
year with activities indudln9. Activitie$ whith induded the facilitation of community
days
including a coffee momlng and a Christmas Famity Fun Day. Both ofth8se èvents
wefe ftee lo attend for any members of the public and as part of the Christmas Fun
day, free refreshments and arts and crafts activil*s were provided wilh all thiklren
and young people present receiving a Christmas present and go¢xlie bag. We also
supported the ABC Rising Stsf communty
event by hosting Danane crafts. puppet
and storytelling events organised by the

aim of sharing practice and awareness of youth issues in the aiea.

planning of our work for the 24125 yr period.
Throughout the year, our training programmè. open to other community groups in the town. Induded First A*J,
Safeguarding and ACE'S training. We also hosted the delivery of OCN Level 3 in Youth WorkJGood Relations
partnership with Youlhlink Nl. whilst providing support for 2 of the participants involved to complete the practic
element of the course through volunteer placements . Volunteering remains a key element of our programme. Thi$
year we have provided opportuntties to support young people to engage in volunteering through our Young
Volunteer and Peer Mentoring progiammes. whilst support for aduli volunteering and provision of volunteering
opportunitie$ continues, with over 17 adult volunteers engaging in the 23r24 period.

The building of a strong youth voice across our membership using the Lundy Model of partlclpallon and
through the use of creatNe methodologies such as pod¢asling- Leys Talk about Y.
The increase in participation of young people across drfferenl communitie5 in the town. young peoplg from
different cultures, young people in the care system as well as young pèople with different abilities.
However. one very notsble h*JhlwJht was that of our Edu¢ation aThJ Training InspectionlETII report which was
published in January 2024. The robust inspection process, follrjwing the new ETI pilot scheme. look place in
November. with Obse￿allOnS taking place during all face to face sessions. as well as focu5 group rno8lings with
stakeholders including. communty and statutory partners
parents and young people as well as Staff and
volunteers. Inspectors also conswjered the governance and strategic planning of the organisalion and how it
promoted a commltnity of learning.
