Activities

3.1. The Trust’s objects are specifically restricted to the advancement of education, the relief of poverty, unemployment and financial hardship, the promotion of social inclusion and the relief and promotion of the benefit of young people and in particular but not exclusively those with learning disabilities aged between 16 and 24 years (hereinafter called the “beneficiaries”) in Northern Ireland (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability/ability, race, nationality, ethnic origin, political, religious or other opinion by associating the beneficiaries, the statutory and local authorities, community and voluntary organisations, healthcare providers, private organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to relieve youth unemployment with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the said beneficiaries and in particular: 3.1.1. to advance the education of the beneficiaries in the area of benefit and to relieve poverty and unemployment by the promotion, facilitation and organisation of adequate, accessible and quality programmes of vocational and educational training or re-training in the catering and hospitality industries, advice, guidance, skills courses, information and support in an effort to acquire skills and retraining to assist the beneficiaries in obtaining new skills, qualifications, employment or practical work experience to assist them to obtain work; 3.1.2. to operate a restaurant for the sole purpose of facilitating the training, education and guidance of the beneficiaries in the catering and hospitality industry to assist the beneficiaries in obtaining practical work experience to assist them to obtain work and also to achieve vocational qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level, City and Guilds, VCTC as they will be trained by accredited tutors); 3.1.3. to relieve unemployment through the maintenance, management and support of employment schemes for people with learning disabilities, difficulties and associated problems; 3.1.4. to promote social inclusion and integration for the public benefit by working with people who are socially excluded or at risk from becoming socially excluded on the grounds of their unemployment, financial hardship, poverty, learning disability, difficulty or associated problems and social or economic position, in order to relieve the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assist them to integrate into, and participate in society; 3.1.5. to advance any other exclusively charitable purposes as the directors, may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity in Northern Ireland. Nothing in the articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Trust for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with s.2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
