## Activities

**Purposes:** (1)	To promote the use and sheer enjoyment of green open spaces, parks, gardens, rivers and off-road transport routes in East Belfast and its environs (the “area of benefit”) and the sustainable planning, design, management, maintenance and improvement of them for the benefit of the public as a means of:  	(a)	promoting the conservation of the physical and natural environment and the conservation of energy resources;  	(b)	promoting the enhancement and improvement of open areas and off-road transport routes for the benefit of the local inhabitants and visitors;  	(c)	assisting in the provision of public amenities;  	(d)	promoting healthy recreation, physical and mental well-being and facilitating the development of strategies that address health inequalities;  	(e)	assisting in the provision of facilities for recreation and leisure time activities in the interests of social welfare for the public with a view to improving their conditions of life;  	(f)	relieving those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage;  	(g)	promoting community development, community cohesion and advancing citizenship and opportunities for volunteering;  	(h)	fostering economic regeneration so as to create employment and training opportunities in areas of social and economic deprivation;  (i)	advancing education for the benefit of the public in subjects related to the conservation, protection and enhancement of open green spaces and the use of alternative modes of transport.  (j) 	advancing the arts, including promoting and organising performances and events which improve public access to and/or participation in the arts  	(2)	To promote such other charitable purposes as may from time to time be determined.
