Report of the Tntstws of the Rotary Club of Llsbum Trust Fund (The Trevor Guy Memorlal Bursary) Report of the Trustees for the year ended 30 June 2023 The Truste9s are pleased to present th￿r report and financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2023. The financial statements have been prepared on 8 receipts and payments basis. Our purposes The purposes of the charty are to hold and apply ts Rotsry Club of Lisbum Trust Fund and all other monies which rn8y from time to time be received by the Trustees, for the rdief of the poor and needy or such other charitable purposes as the Club shall direct. The Club launched an annual bursary in 2004 (now known as The Trevor Guy Memorial Bursary) to mark the 50th anntversary of the founding of the Club, usng the income of the Trust FurKI. The bursaries so awarded have for many years been used to provide financial assistance to young people between the ages of 18 arKI 30 years from Northem Ireland to hdp broaden their eduCatiC￿ and experience arKJ to enable them to help disadvantaged communitles at home andlor overseas. Several bursaries are normally made available each year, the successful candidate usualty being awarded £500, with the balance of funds avallable golng to other candidates who have put forward projects deemed sufficienty worthy of support. ActlvftlM and Achlevements The 2023 Bursary was launched in early February 2023, with details announced on the Club website and Facebook and Instagram paqes, and suitsble publicity material distributed to schools, churches, universits'es and colleges. The Bursary was also publicised on Instagram, courtesy of one of Q Radio's presenters. Applications closed on 31st March 2023. Six candidates were interviewed, follcming which a winner was nominated for 8 £500 award. Because of the extremely high qualty of the candidates, additional awards of £300, £2(xi and £1￿ were made to three applicants. Of Ihe four successful appllcants, all were travelllng on their medical electives, two to Australla, one to Zambla and the third to Malta. The Trustees believe that all of Ihese various projects met the Purposes and Public Benefit of the Charity.
