ANNUAL REI PORT FOR PERIOD 1ST SEPTEMBER 2022 TO 31ST AUGUST 2023 Registered Name: Garvagh Community Pre-school Playgroup Northern Ireland Charity No: 100488 Principle Address: I Coleraine Road Garvagh Coleraine BT515HP Summary of Purpose Garvagh Community Preschool Playgroup provides a high quality, specialised, play-based, pi'eschool education for children aged 3 to 5 years, 5 days a week. It follows the Pre-school Curriculum laid down by Departinent of Education Northern Ireland. The service is offered to children across the community and is inclusive of children with Special Educational Needs and those who have English as a Second Language. Constitution of Charity and Appointment of Trustees: The playgroup is administered and managed in accordance with the constitution by the manageinent committee. All of the trustees are office bearers of the management cominittee and are appointed by parents at the annual general meeting held in October each yeai.. In this peiiod our AGM was held and new committee members selected. The chairy)eison role is undeitaken by Julia Mullan, the Secretary role by Sinead Faulker and the Treasurer role by Erin Deasy. Previous members remained on the committee to offer guidance to those taking on new roles and some of the parents of children attending the playgroup joined the committee. The Playgroup ran a morning session with 17 preschool children 5 days a week. This year we have held the Christmas Hamper fundraiser which raised £727 alongside this were donations from local peoplell)usinesses totalling £41 O. Our sponsored walk raised a total of £311, the smarties tubes raised £150, dress up day raised £12 and sale of sonie of the unused toys, books and equipment raised £85. This totals £13 84 altogether. The playgroup entered the Tesco Community Grants scheme and was offered one of the places for the public to vote on in Ballymoney, Coleraine and Portstewart stores. Following the vote, the playgroup was awarded second place and was chosen by Tesco customers to receive a £IOOO grant award. The trustees have read and taken regard of the Charity Commission for Northein Ireland's guidance on Public benefit and on public benefit reporting. Financial Review The playgroup received funding from the Education Authority of £34,666 and an employment grant of £5633. £2,610 was received in registration and snack fees. The playgroup shows a deficit of £13,075 at the end of the year. A l'ent bill of £5,550 was outstanding at the end of the year and wages increased by £7,003. The cost of living crisis has also impacted the playgroup. The Playgioup held utllestricted funds of £53,010. These ieseives will ensure tliat we can continue to operate although inci'easing oui. fundraising and soui'cing appropriate giant funding remain a high priority for the Committee.
