Preserving community history through the publication of an historical journal and other local history material. - b. Sponsoring an annual historical lecture which shall be open to all members of the public. - c. Sponsoring other historical lectures primarily but not exclusively for paid-up members of the society. - d. There is no private or personal benefit arising from the purpose of the Society. ## **Programme of events** Our programme of meetings was back in full swing after the hiatus caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. **----- Start of picture text -----**

## **Annual Outing** We had a very successful and well attended outing to Grange House and Retreat, and the adjacent Quaker Meeting House in Moyallon on 15 April 2023 and the Ram’s Island Heritage Project on 24 June 2023. craigavonhistoricalsociety.org.uk Northern Ireland Charity Number: NIC100483 Page 2 **Craigavon Historical Society – 2022/23 Annual Report** ## **Publications** We were delighted to publish our biennial journal, “Review” in September 2022 – publication had been delayed by one year because of covid. ## **Web site and Social Media** www.craigavonhistoricalsociety.org.uk - the society’s website - gives free access to much of our published material including over 250 articles from past Reviews, primarily but not exclusively those up to Vol. 9 No. 1 (published 2007); a number of significant articles published since that date were uploaded in 2023. We also maintain a presence on social media (Facebook) which we hope will help us reach a wider audience. ## **National Lottery Heritage Fund** We were delighted to receive NLHF funding for a major project "Digging Deeper Together: Rediscovering Our Sacred Landscapes". The total grant payable will amount to £36,800, in two phases (2022/23 and 2023/24). There were many strands to this project; a principal element was a successful community archaeology dig at Kilmocholmóg field, located off the Kilmore Road, Lurgan. ## **Finance** In the aftermath of the covid-19 pandemic we were pleased to return to a full programme and collected £1,025 in subscriptions from members. Publication of Review (given free to members) incurred costs of £896.40 but sales of our publications remained healthy and gave us receipts of £369.50.
