**Craigavon Historical Society – 2021/22 Annual Report** 


The trustees of Craigavon Historical Society are pleased to submit their report and accounts for the period 01 September 2021 to 31 August 2022 

## **The objects of Craigavon Historical Society:** 

- a. Preserving community history through the publication of an historical journal and other local history material. 

- b. Sponsoring an annual historical lecture which shall be open to all members of the public. 

- c. Sponsoring other historical lectures primarily but not exclusively for paid-up members of the society. 

- d. Working with other agencies concerned with the collection, conservation, interpretation and exhibition of artefacts relating to the history and local heritage of the Craigavon area.

* We had no in-person lectures or outings during 2021/22 because of covid-19 restrictions and/or an abundance of caution. 

## **Public Benefit** 

Those who benefit from the activities of Craigavon Historical Society include not only its members but also the public both inside and beyond the boundaries of what was the designated Craigavon area.  There is no private or personal benefit arising from the purpose of the Society. 

## **Programme of events** 

Our programme of events came to an abrupt end in March 2020 with the start of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.  We did not attempt to formulate a programme of events involving physical contact between members from that time until after the end of 2021/22. 

## **Meetings** 

The society was unwilling to resume live meetings in the first part of the year because of continuing concerns about covid, however, access to on-line lectures and occasional in-person lectures hosted by others was shared among our members. 

Our AGM held in December 2021, talks and committee meetings continued using Zoom.  We returned to in-person committee meetings in the spring of 2022. 

## **Annual Outings** 

We were unable to have any outings due to continuing concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. 

## **Publications** 

We were again unable to publish our biennial journal, “Review” during 2021/22 but work progressed on it’s production to allow for printing for distribution at the Society’s AGM in September 2022.
