ose of the Mar
aret Preston Charitable Trust
(a) To pay the income of the trust fund to and among the following charitable institutions in the
shares or proportions hereinafter mentioned namely:_
To St. Helens Hospital, St. Helens three equal tenth parts.
To Liverpool Royal Infirmary three equal tenth parts.
To Llandudno and District Hospital, Llandudno two equal teniFI parts.
To Children's Home and Mission of Crescent Road, South Woodford in the County of
Essex one equal tenth part.
To St. Helen's Crippled and Invalid Children's Aid Society one equal tenth part.
(b) This purpose is no longer relevant as the Settlor died without having made any directions to
the Trustees regarding the purposes of the Trust.
(c} From and after the death of the Settlor the Trustee5 may at their discretion either continue to
pay or apply the said income as the same shall be payable or applicable in accordanee with the
foregoing provisions hereof at the death of the Settlor or may from time to time pay or apply the
same to or for such other Gharitable institutions or purposes for the benefit of the very poor as the
Trustees shall think fit.
What benefit flows from this
ur ose?
The institutions named in putyose (a) above no longer benefit from the Trust Fund (as these are
now all publicly funded).
The benefits which f]ow from purpose (c) are that the trust income is applied for the benefit of
other charitable institutions or purposes benefiting the very poor. In recent years the Trust
income has been donated to the Salvation Army, Barnardos. and The Simon Community
Northern Ireland.
These benefits can be demonstrated through the annual reports and other literature published on a
regular basis by the charities mentioned above to which donations are made.

The Charity's beneficiaries are the very poor.

The only private benefit f]owing from the charity's purposes are any legitimate private benefits
arising from the administration of the charities to which the trust income is donated. It is
considered that any such benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure that the appropriate
benefit is provided to the beneficiaries of such charities.
