2023-03-31-annual-report

The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their annual report for the year ended 31 March 2023.

The Charity is constituted as a Company Limited by Guarantee in accordance with the Companies Act 2006.

Its objectives are to provide a focal point to the local community of Killinchy, through the use of a purpose-built hall. The policies adopted in the furtherance of these objectives are to act as a voice for the local community and discuss local issues. There has been no change during the year.

The aim of the charity is to provide a comfortable social environment for the Killinchy Community.

The objectives for the year were to retain and develop existing community initiatives while also expanding the variety of programmes available to the local users.

The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the charity commission in devising what activities the charity should pursue.

The committee, of at least 8 members, is elected at the AGM. The trustees, who are also the directors for the purpose of company law, and who served during the year are appointed by the committee following the annual general meeting. None of the trustees has any beneficial interest in the company. All the trustees are members of the company and guarantee to contribute £1 in the event of winding up. Killinchy and District Community Development Association Limited has four trustees who all participate in the day to day running of the business.

The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, in particular those related to the operation and finances of the Company and are satisfied that systems in place to mitigate our exposure to the major risks. At the time of approval of the accounts the Trustees note that, following Covid-19 restrictions, the Community Hall income continues to recover slowly. It is their intention to seek additional sources of grant funding towards the running costs of the hall.

Throughout the year the trustees are ably supported in the running of the hall by the other members of the committee.

The Christmas event run in December 2022 is the only event run by the Association itself and this was funded by a grant from Ards and North Down Borough Council.

The other regular uses of the hall throughout the year were by the Pilates classes, Yoga classes, Killinchy Youth Club, Kilmood GB, Killinchy Cycling Club, Killinchy Senior Citizens Club and Killinchy Activity Group. In addition to this the hall was in regular use for birthday parties and other family social gatherings.
