Charrtable purposes
The Companrfs Objects are to advance the education of the people of the Kingdom of Mourne, Ulster
and beyond, concerning the History, Cullure, Arts and Leisure, Literature, Language, Song, Dance,
Drama and Musical Heritage of the Ulster Scots Tradition.
Public b8nefits
Th8 dir8cl ben8fils which flow from th8 purpose of our organisation are an Incr8a58d knowledge and
awareness of Ulster-scots within the Kingdom of Mourne, Ulster and beyond. Through training,
workshops and events organis8d by our Society, many people both locally and from further afield
obtain experience and qualifications in the mu81¢, dance, hlstory and cultur8 of the Ulster-scots and
enjoy many of the social aclivilies associated wilh the Schombarg Society. These benefits are
8vid6nced through the 18rge numbers of people attending our events including festivals, summer
schools, workshops, training courses and other activltl8s which hav8 b88n well documented in both
the local press and m8dia and through regular evaluations and monitoring. We can see no harm by
any of the purposes of our charity. The charity's beneficiarles ar8 th8 g8n8ral public in the Klngdom of
Mourne, Ulster and b8yond. The only private b8n8fil flowing from this purpos8 Is that there is a small
number of paid staff and this is incidental and necessary because they ar8 8ss8nlial lo the running of
the organisalion.
What your org8nlsatlon does
The Schomberg Soclely Kilkeel Ltd carries out the role of an umbrella and support org8nlsBtlon In the
greater Mournes. The Society has establlshed an Ulsler-scots hub at Relvers House that Is the
organisational base for numerous and concentrated Ulster-S¢o15 activities. These activities include..
Classes and luilion in highland and lowland dance, fiddle, fife, flute, accordion, pipes and drum.
Classes In drama, arts and crafts. Provislon of Ulster-scols Summer Schools. Provldes a saf8
environment for senior ciliz8ns, ladies and mens groups, victims and veterans who meet regularly in
Reivers House. Workshop and training programmes.. child protection, first aid, foodlhygiene, good
gov8rnance. event safety, marshalling, d8signated p8rson, 81c. Engagement wSth local primary
schools and youth org8nls8tlons and assistlng both taachers and puplls to b8 awar8 of thelr Ul$ter
Scots Traditions and culture, and to make available to schools elements of our Ulster-scols dance,
music and language by means of specially prepared workshops. The Society also endeavors to reach
out to other communltles who tradltionally have Ilttle awarenes5 or knowledg8 of Ulsl8r-Scots by us8
of literature and informative talksldebatos and outreach programme8. The Society also uses
networking with all existing and potential community groups lo further generate an interest in all things
Ulst8r-Scols. All of the above are carri8d out by the Society in eith8r a voluntary capacily or subsidised
by grant funding and are not for profil. The Society organises and runs an annual Ulster-scots festival
with numerous activities altracting large crowds which is free to everyone, along with other cultural
festivals and events Ihroughout the year,

activity-, Analysis of any future needs, opportunities. Gonlingencies or r18ks, the effects of which are not
likely to be mel out of income if and when they arise,. and Assessment of the likelihood of each of
those needs and risks materiallsing and the pot8ntSal consequ8nc8s of Ihe charity not being able to
meet them.
The charity's pollcy is to maintain a level of free reserves which meets the needs of the Charity both at
the current time and for the foreseeable future. Free reserv88 are ils total funds excluding restricted
funds, designated funds or Income funds which can only be released by disposing of fixed assets held
for charity u50.
Investment Policy
Aside from retaining a prudent amount in reserves each year most of the charity's funds are lo be
