The objects of the Society are to f oster interest in all aspects of the history of Sa intf ield and its
surrounding districts. includingthe geography, folklore. customs, dialects and place names of
the area. to organise lectures by experts in thevarious fields. to arrange field excursions to
places of interest; to provide facilities for study groups; to unearth 8nd document new or
existing information and to encouragethe preservation of objects which may be in danger of
destruction.
The Trustees continue to be aware of their obligation to have regard to the Public Benefit
requirement of the Charity Commission lor Northern Ireland: duringthe yearthe following
activities were carried out:
TALKS PROGRAMME
September 2023 - Belfast and the slave trade
October 2023- 1,000 years of the Strangford ferry
November 2023- Shadowing Miss Grimshaw
January 2024- Blair Mayne and his SAS war diaries 1941-45
February 2024- Cancelled due to weather conditions
FINANCE
The financial position of the Society was as indicated in the Annual Accounts which were
examined by R Savage & Co, Accountants, Saintfield
TRUSTEES
