Trustees Annual Report 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023

The objects of the Society are to foster interest in all aspects of the history of Saintfield and its surrounding districts, including the geography, folklore, customs, dialects and place names of the area; to organise lectures by experts in the various fields; to arrange field excursions to places of interest; to provide facilities for study groups; to unearth and document new or existing information and to encourage the preservation of objects which may be in danger of destruction.
As always the Trustees have been aware of their obligation to have regard to the Public Benefit requirement of the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland, and during the year the following activities were carried out:-
Talks Programme
September 2022 – Ulster Scots Migration into and out of Ulster October - The Spanish Flu0f 1918-1919 in Antrim and Down November - Our Changing Countryside and its Wildlife January 2023 - In the steps of the Stone Men February - Belfast Harbour Estate March - Cancelled due to weather conditions
Finance
The financial position of the Society for the year ended 31 March 2023 is as indicated in the Annual Accounts which were examined by R Savage & Co, Accountants, Saintfield.
