RANDALSTOWN CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION TRUSTEES REPORT

For the year 2022/2023

Randalstown Central Primary School PTA is made up of a membership of both Parents and Teachers who give of their time on a voluntary basis and work collectively to raise funds to enable the school to purchase much needed equipment and resources.

These resources are implemented to benefit each pupil within the school. The Charity meets in the school premises at Randalstown Central Primary School, 4 Church Road, Randalstown, BT53 7DR.

The Charity is governed by their Constitution (agreed with PTA UK and Charity Commission NI) and all members of Committee are appointed during the Annual AGM. The AGM was held on the 27[th] of June 2022 with no change to Chair, Treasurer and Secretary positions. Additional trustees were voted in to fill the position of Teacher representative, vice chairperson and vice treasurer. It was agreed the next AGM won’t be held at the end of the school year going forward. The Committee is made up of Parents and Teachers some of whom also act as Trustees for the Charity. Six members are appointed to hold the offices of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, and vice treasurer as well as a teacher representative.

Randalstown Central Primary School PTA has a two-fold approach to the work in helping the school. Some members serve on Committee and others commit to helping at the Fundraisers by serving refreshments, providing supervision, or sending in baked goods or items as raffle prizes.

This year we decided to continue with the reduced number of fundraising activities and focus on a couple of main fundraisers throughout the year.

We kicked off the year with the restart of our Tuck shops, these were very successful throughout the year and the kids really enjoyed being able to visit the tuck and chose and pay for their own sweeties. Our first event of the tear was a mid-term disco which went down a treat with he kids. At Christmas time we sold refreshments at the class Christmas shows and also held a raffle. The raffle was very generously supported by many local businesses and raised a substantial amount for the PTA. The Christmas card sales were again successful this year and many cards, tea towels and mugs were purchased. In light of the Kings Coronation we applied for a grant from the local council which we received and were able to put on a fantastic fun day for the kids. To finish off the school year we again held our class marathon, the sun shone and everyone had a great day with a lot of funds being raised as sponsorship.

In this financial year the income of the PTA was nearly £5000 with an expenditure of £1800. We were able to cover the costs of licences for online services used within the school, treat the kids to snack on their panto day, Host a hot chocolate and mallows day, donate to the P7 leavers BBQ and also fund part of the coronation celebration.

In distributing funds, the Trustees and Committee meet with the Principal and Vice Principal to discuss areas where the need is greatest.

The following served as Trustees: Mrs Debbie Millar, Ms Sarah Pedlow, Mrs Jayne Irvine, Mrs Paula Mailey, Mrs Emily Moody and Mrs Linzi Currie.
