– Friends of Moneynick Trustee Report for financial year period – 1st July 2024 30th June 2025.

Name of the charity is; Friends of Moneynick. The NI Charity Commission Number is: 100390.

The Friends of Moneynick is comprised of parents, staff and friends of Moneynick Primary School who meet at least once a term. The objectives of our group are to support the school community through fund-raising and to coordinate events which bring the entire school community together. We aim to raise the profile of our school within the local community and provide support to parents and extended families after school hours by assisting in after school events and classes.

Summary of Friends of Moneynick’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements / targets achieved:

Our active association has enabled a number of fundraising, events and activities for pupils at Moneynick Primary school and their families. These have resulted in the acquisition of additional resources for the school and have helped to build stronger links within the local community and the school. This has been demonstrated through the events and activities which we organised during the period of this return. For example, the Halloween Sponsored Disco fundraiser provided financial assistance for the following: costumes for the Christmas play, art resources, gardening club resources, and trophies for the Primary 7 leavers.

Through working in partnership with the school and actively listening to the parents’ voice, our association has been proactive in supporting the educational progress and attainment of pupils needs, building their confidence and self-esteem through the provision of resources, events and activities. This enabled pupils to have access to resources, events and activities and links within the local community, which otherwise would not have been possible through direct school funding alone.

We fund the school texting service which is an effective and reliable communication tool for parents, keeping them and their families informed about our daily activities in a modern and dynamic way.

We had a Halloween sponsored disco in October which the children loved. We had some lovely Christmas hampers in local shops and sold raffle tickets for these and generated £207. We also earned some revenue from the Asda Cashpot scheme. We ran a “Last Man Standing” competition and generated £800.

We received a few grants for example Live here, Love here and we were able to provide a poly tunnel and grow some vegetables.

Friends of Moneynick overall aims and goals are also in line with the School’s Development Plan targets. Specifically in the area of 'Parents and the Community' where it states that Friends of Moneynick will assist the school with fund-raising for extracurricular activities and resources, and also that Friends of Moneynick and Duneane PTA will work together to further community cohesion.

A statement that the Trustees have had regard to the Commission’s Public Benefit requirement:

The soul aim of our association is to contribute to the experience of all of the children attending Moneynick Primary School in a positive and memorable way. The majority of Charity trustees (association committee members) are parents of children attending the school with the principle being all children will gain benefits from our outcomes.
