Charity Name: St. Colmcilles PTA (ref NIC 100389) Trustees Annual Report
Financial Year from 01 September 2016 to 31 August 2017
Summary of Main Activities and Achievements
St. Colmcilles PTA was once again very active in the financial period with regular fundraising activities carried out. These included:
-
The monthly draw in Terms 1 & 2 with a £10 donation per entry and six-monthly prizes of £100 to a winner drawn randomly during school assembly.
-
Organising a Christmas Draw with donations received as prizes for the draw.
-
Selling tea, coffee, water, donated traybakes and candyfloss during Sports Day.
-
Organising a 5km Fun Run to mark the 10[th] anniversary since the school’s inception and to act as the main fundraiser of the year. Interested parents and children were encouraged to get fit and take part with funds raised by sponsorship per km walked or run. A voluntary and free programme of “Couch to 5km” was organised in advance to encourage as much active participation as possible. Additionally, tea/coffee and hot food were organised at the completion of the event and all monies raised went into PTA funds.
The main achievement in the period was the organisation of the 5km Fun Run which very well attended and the main anniversary event for the schools 10[th] year in operation. A large turnout took part or supported from the sidelines and despite a torrential downpour before the start, the weather improved, and a great day out ensued. Much positive feedback was received. The PTA agreed to fund a medal for each entrant and were extremely active in organising the refreshments. A small army of helpers aided with marshalling and their assistance was invaluable.
The PTA also agreed to a request from the principal to fund Spanish lessons throughout all age ranges in the school. This allowed all primary school pupils to experience a foreign language and the feedback from parents and pupils alike was extremely positive. The PTA also continued their funding for sports day medals for distribution at the annual Sports Day.
It is hereby confirmed that the Trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's Public benefit requirement statutory guidance.
Financial Position
Following a large depletion of funds last year for iPADS, the PTA managed to restore an improved closing balance to the account of £11,882. The target is to continue fund raising into next year and purchase a further number of iPADS - which has been a long term goal over the past few years. The policy of the PTA is to avoid any debt and to "live within our means".
