## **Templepatrick Primary School Parent Teacher Association Report of the Trustees Year ended 30[th] September 2023**

## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT**

Templepatrick Primary School Parent Teacher Association is governed by its Trustees. The committee members meet on a monthly basis throughout the school terms.

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**

This annual report covers the PTA’s financial year from 1 October 2022 to 30 September 2023.

## **PUBLIC BENEFIT STATEMENT**

The charity has complied with its duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland in exercising its powers and duties.

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**

The PTA is made up of parents of the children, residents in the community and staff of the school who make up the Committee. All parents of the nursery and primary school units, past and present are encouraged to become actively involved, to assist running a calendar of events and supply the volunteer manpower which is required.

As a committee we always evaluate and monitor events or initiatives which we run to ensure that they are as successful as possible and to gauge the opinion of the children and the adults to keep all actively informed.

The PTA feed into the school newsletter which is circulated weekly with PTA information on a regular basis. The PTA work alongside the local community to assist with initiatives such as Green Flag status and our Eco Garden which is a community facility. Templepatrick PTA retains close links with the PTA - Northern Ireland to inform and update them.

**Objective 1** : Improved relationships between home and school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at Templepatrick Primary School. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

**Objective 2** : Advancing the education of children. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community.

This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding.

## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE**

First of all, we would like to thank you to all those who came to the meetings and helped this year, it was all very much appreciated. As we are all well aware, during the school year 20222023 fundraising activities.

We started the year with an opening account balance of £21,541 following another good year in 2021-2022. We have been able to continue funding the “normal” bills which the PTA funds have been used for over the past few years.

We held numerous fundraising events throughout the year such as the Halloween disco and various items for Christmas, such as personalised cards, Christmas baubles and Smores kits. We also held a Movie night for the older children and a guess the sweets/movie event.

In the new year we held a pub quiz, as well as our big showstopper event of an evening at the Wrestling with BBQ, which was a huge success for the school.

We were very lucky to obtain some funding from our local council to allow all children at the school to enjoy a Coronation Day party.

Throughout the year, we funded all events held throughout the year as well as covering the costs of the P7 trip, buddy caps and badges for our P7s. Our biggest outgoing this year was the Coronation Day party which was such a great way to finish the school year and everyone had a great day.

Thanks to the elected office bearers this year: Anita O’Connell, Caroline Britton-Hall, Gemma Hamilton and Norah Gilliland and for volunteering as elected representatives to our PTA committee.
