ETC Club Annual Report 2023/24
Annual Report for year end March 2024
The trustees and facilitators of The ETC Club are happy to submit their annual report and accounts for the period April 1[st] 2023 to March 31[st] 2024.
The club engaged in a range of activities during this period, detailed as follows:-
-
Belfast Hills Partnership – staff from Belfast Hills provided educational virtual walks at various locations which are important for the biodiversity maintenance in Belfast. Club members really enjoyed these sessions and enjoyed seeing birdseye views of areas they have enjoyed walking through in the past. We also attended many walks at various locations around Belfast.
-
We were successful in receiving funding from Clear Projects in partnership with the Public Health Agency and their health promotion funding which focused on the Take 5 initiative. Our members decided to focus on the mindfulness and wellbeing of the initiative and endured on a 4 week Equine Facilitated Learning programme to help develop communication, confidence and mindfulness.
-
Tennis/Squash – We engaged with coaches at Belfast Boat Club and received funded tennis sessions through Enjoy Tennis Ireland. Members loved these sessions and enjoyed trying squash for the first time.
-
Weekly Cultural experiences – members enjoyed themed days learning about different countries and cultures such as Germany, Mexico and India.
-
Table Tennis – we participated in multiple table tennis sessions at Ormeau Table Tennis Club.
-
Health & Wellbeing Team – staff members from the health and wellbeing team provided live and interactive body and movement sessions via Zoom for the group which was greatly appreciated. In addition, we attended cycling and Boccia sessions at Loughmoss Leisure Centre.
-
Arts Care – we engaged with the resident dance instructor from Arts Care who took our members for weekly dance and movement sessions. Members thoroughly enjoy this activity and are very proud to perform at various shows such as the Christmas show at Knockbracken and at board meetings.
-
I Can Cook It – healthy eating course.
-
Adopt a spot – members wanted to help out in our community and decided to sign up to the Adopt a Spot initiative which supports litter picking in a chosen area through the ‘Live Here Love Here’ programme.

-
LD Pride – helped to support the cause and to support LD in the community with the ‘Do Your Thing’ initiative.
-

-
Community Arts Partnership – our friends at CAP offered us some funded arts and crafts sessions, focusing on embossing and also clay making.
-
Members also engaged in recreational activities throughout the year, to include bowling, walks, cookery, museum visits, allotment visits, and rugby world cup, BBQs, Ulster Folk and Transport museum, day trips on the train, St George’s market, Fun day at Focus Club, Adventure Golf, W5, Driving Range, Titanic Visit and much more.
-
Social Media – the group continued to put our club on the map through social media by posting various videos and pictures of what we get up to as a club. We received a lot of comments and positive feedback from family and friends through social media, which is great platform to showcase what we get up to, interact with the local community, reducing discrimination towards our members and promoting inclusivity.
-
A fond farewell to a longstanding staff member – we said goodbye to our Club Assistant Stephanie Dalzell. Stephanie was a huge asset to the club, with all members ever so fond of her and the support she provided to everyone.
-
The club and its members continue to fundraise as and when throughout the year.

The number of current members attending the ETC Club is 12. The ETC Club remains unregulated by the regulatory body Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA), but instead with the Charity Commission of Northern Ireland only.
Up and coming projects
Club members and facilitators hope to continue fundraising when members confirm dieas. We have also applied for funded programmes with Community Arts Partnership (CAP). We will continue to engage with our regular partners throughout the year.
