The financial statements are prepared in accordance with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 as amended by the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 where applicable.

In this report the trustees of Millbrook Church of the Nazarene present a summary of its purpose, governance, activities, achievements and finances for the financial year 30 September 2023.

Mission, Objectives and Strategy

Advancement of God’s Kingdom – This is achieved through public worship, missionary and outreach work. The beneficiaries of this Charity are members of Millbrook Church of the Nazarene, their families and the General public within the Millbrook, Larne and Carrickfergus area. Our services are open to all sections of the community who wish to find out more about the Christian Faith and these services are advertised on our website

(www.millbrooknazarene.co.uk). The direct benefit of participation in church life includes mental, emotional health and wellbeing contributing to a positive moral and social impact on the community. Benefit demonstrated through observation of improved behaviour, public testimony and monitoring of pastoral care. The indirect benefits which flow from this purpose include the moral improvement in society as a whole which religion is considered to encourage.

Advancement of Community Development – “Millbrook Church of the Nazarene - in the heart of the community with the community at its heart.” One of our aims as a Church is to reach out into the local Millbrook Community in which we are based to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support. We organise a number of activities to this end including, but not limited to: Youth ‘Drop in’, Family fun days, Acoustic and community café, family Cinema nights and Holiday bible club for children. The direct benefit which flows from this is the encouragement and reduced social isolation of those who live in the locality of our Church as they participate in activities organised by us.

Through the provision of entertainment, or a safe place for children and young people to ‘hang out,it is well documented that Churches help decrease the occurrence of crime and deviance amongst local teenagers and this benefits the community and provides positive role models for young people to follow. Benefit demonstrated through on-going feedback from community representatives, parents and team leaders.

The church had four part-time employees during this period. There are no other private benefits. We do not anticipate that any harm will flow from any of the above.
