The Tnjstees, who are also directofs of the chantable company, present their report and accounts for
year ended 31 March 2024.
The Financthl Statements have been prepared in accordance viith the aCcoUnt￿g policies set out in note
I to the F(nancial Statements and comply with the charity's governing document, thè Companies Act
2006 and ~Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to
charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the
UK and Republic of Ireland (FR5102) {as amended for accounting periods commencing frorn l January
2019).
Aims and Objertives
Shopmobility Newry are a registered charity providing mobility equipment to people with IiTnited
mobility. The Aim of the charity is to facilitate Independence. inclusion and equality.
Shopmobility ￿ for everyone. young or old, whether their disability is temporary or pemanent- anyone
who needs help with mobility.
Perforniance
During the year ended 31 March 2024 there were 2771 recorded booking5 compared to 3103 in 2023.
50% of these were for ￿ooterS (2023: 51%). for manual wheelchairs {2023: 48%) and 1% Rollator.
Shopmobility report a deficit of £9.5LO for year ended 31 March 2024 compared to a deficit of £8,631
for year ended 31 March 2023.
There were 571 individual users of all ages and disability, etther long or short term who might otherwise
not be able to get out and around Newry City Centre.
Shopmobility Newry have continued to recruit new members on a regular basL5. The Membership at 1st
April 2024 was 537 Icompared to 537 at 1$1 April 2023). There were 103 new membeTS Ln thLG financial
year.
Financial Review
The Reserves Policy states that the current target level for resepies is set at six months of annual
operating expenditure plus redundancy costs. In the event of Teseryes dipping below this target leveL
they may be restored by increased fundraising. increaSLng eamed income or reducing expenditure.
The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed and are satisfied that systems
are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.
Risk Statement
Further to the management ststements, the trustees identify the major risks to which the charity is
exposed each financ￿[ year when preparing and updating a strategic plan, in particular those related
to the operations and finances of the charity- The trustees then review any major risks that have been
identified. and establish systems to rnit￿ate those risks. The charity is sati5fLed that the systems arè in
place to mitigate their exposure to the major risks thal have been so identified and reviewed
The charity is open to the usual financial risks of any organisation, and the charity has introduced
controls to minimise these risks. such as two S￿natureS being required for payments from the bank
account In addition, the accounts are regularly explained to Members of the charity and are open for
member's inspection at any time.

The methods adopted for the recruitment and appointment of new directors1tn￿ees
Members.. Subscrthers are members of the company. Others must apply for membershw and be
approved by the d(rectors A member Tnay withdraw by gtving written notice. unless there would be
only two members remaining.
Directors.. Number shall not be less than 3." there ￿ no maximum number.
Appointment of directors: the company may by ordinary resolution appoint a director. A director may
resign office by notice to the company.
Company operations and project management
Petty cash expenditure is avoided where Poss￿le. Payments are made on receipt of invoices and
expenditure author4sed by a direttor. Cheque5 require two signatures and online payments over £2,000
require two authorisations and there is a daily limtt of £lO.000.
The accounts and receipts are always available for inspertion.
ShopmobilLty Newry's fInanc￿L statements are subject to a full financial independent examiner
inspection at the erKI of each financial year. Shopmobility Newry management and Board of Directors
regularly revlew financial procedures.
Shopmob(Itty Newry complies with legislative regulations taid out ￿ Equal Opportunities legislation,
the Disability Discr¢mination Act and the Children's Order. GDPR and other appropriate legislatLOn.
Shopmobility Newry's Policies include: a Safe9uarding Young People and Vulnerable Adults Policy, a
Health and Safety Policy, Whi£tlebiowing Policy. Equal Opportunities Policy and Privacy Policy.
The organisational structure and how decisions are made
The board of directorsltrustees meets 6 times a year as a lull board. to d￿cUSS the activities of the
charity in terms of finance, premises. staffing and programming. Staff have delegated authority to cary
out day to day work within policies agreed by the board. Financial standing orders give necessary
authorisation of different amounts.
The policies and procedures adopted for the indurtion and tratning of directorsnrustees
Prior to being elected. nominees are invited to a Board meeting. a5 well as visiting the preM￿es, to
meet trustees and members of stsff.
Grant Income
The Trustees confirm that the Transport Programme for People with Disabilities, grant, administered by
DFI. has been used solety for the purposes intended and in accordance with the terrns and conditions
of the grant.

Statement of Trustees. respoThsibilitie5
The trustees. who are also the dirertors of ShopmobLlity Newry for the purpose of company law, are
responsible for preparing the Trustees. Report and the accounts in accordance with applicable law and
United Kingdom Accounting Standards (Untted Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company Law requires the trustees to prepare accounts for each financial year which give a true and
fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources,
including the income and expenditure. of the char(tabie company for that year.
In preparmg these accounts, the trustees are required to..
select SULtable accounting policies and then apply them consistently-
observe the method5 and principles in the Charities SORP.
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent
state whether applicable UK Accounttng Standards have been followed, subject to any material
departures disclosed and explained in the accounts; and
prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the
charity will continue in operatton.
The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that disclose with reasonable
accuracy at any time the financial position of the chanty and enable them to ensure that the accounts
comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are atso responsible for safeguarding the assets of the
charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other
irregularities.
Independent Exam4ner
In accordance with the company's artLcLes. a resolution proposing that AAB Group Accountants Limited
be reappointed as Independent Examiners of the company will be put at a General Meeting.
