Charity aims and purposes. Objectives and Activities.

The aim and purpose of Elmwood Asthma Action is to provide assistance to people suffering from asthma and breathing related problems, and to fund research into providing assistance to those who suffer from Asthma and breathing related problems. Our organisation raises donations by the placement of Charity collection boxes in various shops throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

We also occasionally arrange charity bag packs in local supermarkets as an additional source of charity funding. With these raised funds we donate to research that is tasked with studying the effects of Asthma and breathing related difficulties so that treatment can be made devised to combat these difficulties. With raised charity donations we also fully or partially fund or donate nebulizer equipment that elevates breathing difficulties for those who suffer from Asthma and breathing related problems. With ongoing research, we hope to provide new advances in breathing related equipment as and when they are devised and have been passed by relevant bodies.

Annual Report

At our annual meeting we discussed several topics. The ongoing rise in costs involved with running the charity were discussed and a few ideas proposed as how to both save money and increase donations. These included obtaining quotes for printing services from several competing companies and choosing the quote that is best for price and quality.

The approval of a donation button on the charity’s website was approved and implemented and is currently in operation. The use of social media to create awareness and to aid donations was discussed and it was decided that this should be further investigated.

A special mention was noted for a former volunteer of the charity, Brian Morgan, who sadly passed away in 2023. Brian was a proud supporter of the chairty and though ill helped curbed his ability to help the charity in his later years, his help and guidance was invaluable in the early days of Elmwood Asthma Action. He will be missed.

All trustees agreed to return for the oncoming year and Yvonne Morgan was re-elected as Chairperson.

“The new design for the charity’s website was discussed and approved. This was implemented in the middle of the year and is currently online.”
