DIRECTORS REPORT AGM 2024

Another successful year can be reported by the directors of Rouskey Community & Development Association.

Monthly meetings were held by the committee and quite a number of activities were organised and held in the centre. We also hired out the centre for various functions, such as parties and funeral teas, to the community and other stakeholders. In December, we had our Christmas draw to raise funds for the centre and was very successful. We also organised a tractor run to raise funds for the centre and a donation to Marie Curie. Members of the committee presented a cheque of £1000 to Marie Curie from the Tractor Run.

In the past year we have provided classes in Pilates, crocheting/knitting, pottery, fitness, mindful makers, cookery. We also provided children and adult music classes and piano classes. We had a Rouskey Children’s Drama production alongside Plumbridge Music Group and was performed in the Plumbridge Hall. It was a great night of entertainment. This was our first year to organise Santa for our Christmas event and was successful.

We received funding for Know Your Place, a number of people from the local area who was recorded; telling their story, singing dancing and playing music which reflected their upbringing. This culminated in the production of a film and publication of a book which were published and distributed widely. As a direct result of know Your Place project, we identified a spin-off project which involved the first hand account of a local 92 year old gentleman’s recollections of the grocery run in the local area and was recorded and a number of people who either worked or benefited from the grocery run and produced a book and film which was published and distributed widely. The film is currently available on N.I Screen.

Rouskey community garden has flourished this year and was one of the project with other projects funded by Big Lottery. – Padraig Donovan facilitates arrange of workshops how to grow and harvest your own vegetables and fruit in the community garden. Thanks to

Padraig and volunteers who work in community garden. In addition, we have now a campfire session with people sitting around having food, music and having fun.

Rouskey CDA Groups include:

Rouskey Walking Group (Danders and Moderate Walkers) Rouskey Gardening Group Rouskey Farmers Group Rouskey Art Group

All together, we secured funding from Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Big Lottery Community Fun, John Moore and Owenkillew Credit Union LTD.

Rouskey CDA won first prize Cleaner and Greener Section and received £1000 through Housing Executive’s Rural Community Awards.

We wish to thank all of our funders as well as members of the community who have donated so generously. It is very much appreciated. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers for all their hard work this past year.

Lastly, we would like to appeal for a new chairperson and new volunteers and members of the committee. We welcome any comments any ideas that would help to promote the running of the centre.
