Tuesday Club Annual Report 2023/2024 1
Tuesday Club
The Tuesday Club was established to encourage members to meet together daily. This reduces isolation and loneliness as well as the opportunity to get a home cooked meal.
The annual Club membership fee remains £10.00 with a contribution for tea/coffee and additional costs for the activity involved. This money has been used for extra expenses – room hire from O4O, electricity costs and accountancy fees.
We are a voluntary club depending on our volunteers to deliver our services including completing funding applications, finances, organizing trips and refreshments for members taking part in activities.
Funding
This year we got funding from Mid-Ulster District Council and the Micro Community Investment Fund.
These grants have provided opportunities for older people to engage with others. As a result of these grants The Tuesday Club has been able to offer more opportunities for volunteering and placements.
The overall achievement has been the direct benefit to the older people who participated in the club.
Activities
Tuesday club meets in O4O Cookstown’s premises from 1pm to 3 pm.
We continued with the Arts and Crafts classes, with thanks to Jean Donaghy for facilitating this, our members thoroughly enjoy all the wonderful creations.
Thanks to funding we were able to have a block of cooking classes by Joanna Neeson from Wyse Bytes, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all and everyone received a recipe booklet at the end.
This year we continued with our bus trips, with our members visiting - the Abbey Centre, Omagh, Junction One and Killymoon Castle, which were enjoyed by everyone!
If time allows Bingo or Beetle Drive is also played regularly. Sometimes we have other activities such as chair exercises or games/parties.

Speakers came to provide useful information about the services they provide. The fire service gave a great talk on fire safety at home and members were able to apply for a free Carbon Monoxide Alarm and a speaker from Agewell gave information on their services including the ‘Good Morning Call’ and Handyman.
In February this year we did a sponsored walk to raise funds to bring in extra funds to help O4O and the costs that are involved. It was a great event and well done to all those who collected sponsorship!
Volunteers
Volunteers play an important role for the Tuesday Club. Jane does the admin work and organizes the bus trips. Sharon helps with assisting members to complete their crafts. Most important are Jason and Lee who provide the tea or coffee and all the goodies!
New Members are always welcome to join the group!
The Tuesday Club Objectives:
-
To provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for older men.
-
To raise awareness among the general public of the needs and experiences of older people in the area of benefit.

Working with O4O Cookstown Ltd
The Tuesday Club members have also been able to participate and enjoy a range of workshops and classes provided by O4O Cookstown Ltd. We are delighted that the collaboration between the two groups provides a great interactive program of activities for people aged over 50 years and allows members to avail of the Luncheon Club provided by O4O.
