Direetors Officers of the charitable company, known as directors for the puryose of cofftpany law and trust¢¢s for the purpose of charity law, who served during the year and up to the date of this report are set out on page l of the financEal statements. Charitable objects The charitable company was estsblished to improve the conditions of life for th¢ inhabitants of the Douglas Bridge and District Area. To achieve this object, the charitable cotnpany aims to advance edutatioR 2nd provide facilities, in the interest of social welfare, for recreation or other leisure.iime occllpation for the inhabitants of the area. They aim to achieve this through participation of statutory bodies, voluniary L)rgani5ations and indeed the inhabitants ihemselves. Organisational strueture The trustees meet regularly, administer the charity and make all policy decisions. In accordance with the Articles of A55ociation the number of directors shall not be less than three, and one third are to retir¢ each year roiation. Related parties The ch8Titable company has a very close relatjollship with Douglas Bridge Cross Community Association {hereaft¢r known as ihe Association), which is also a charity. The Association OTganises a range of community social and recreational activities and trips for women, the elderly and children. It also undertakes various fundraising events in which to raise funds for lis own activities and that of the company. The direciors of the charitable COTnpany are also committee members of the Association. Review of Actlvities and achievements During the year the charitable cotnpany continu¢d it5 work with children through the youth club. We believe thai it is iherefoTe appropriate for the chariiable company's financial statements for the yeai ended 31 Decernber 2021 to haye been prepared on a going concern basis. Volunteers The charitable company is grateful for ihe unstinting efforts of its directors and other volunteers who have continually supported the activitie5 and management of the charitable company throughout the year. As indicated in note 7 to the financial st&tern¢nts, the directors were not in recekpt of any remuneration nor rel￿bUrSe￿¢nt of expense5 in respect of their services during the year. Taxation The charitabl¢ company is accepted as a charity by HM Revenue & Customs under reference XR44866 and thereforc is exemp( from corporation tax. Statement of trustees, respollsibilities The truste¢s are responsible for preparing the Tn￿tees, Report and th¢ financial staternents in accordance with applicable law and regulations. Company law and charity law require5 the tn]5tees to prepare financial 5taiements for each financial year. Under company lam, the trustees musl not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of th¢ eharitable company and of the surplus or deficit for that year. They ate also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the pr¢vention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
