The ¢haTilable coinpany wa5 established to improve the conditions of life for the inhabitant5 of the Douglas Bridge and
Disti'ict Ai'ea. To achieve this object, the charitable company aims to advance ¢ducation and provide facilitie5, in the
iniei'est of social welfare, for r¢crealion or oili¢r leisure-tiine occupation for the inhabitants of tlie 3r¢a. They aim to
achieve this through parti¢ipation of statutory bodies, voluiitary organisations and indeed the inhabitants themselves.

The Ii'ustee5 meet regulai'ly, administei. the charity and make all policy decisions. In accordance with the Articles of
Association the nuinbei. of directors shall noi be less than three, and one third al'e to ielii'¢ each year in rotation.

The chai'itable company ha5 a very close i'elationship with Douglas Bridge Cross Cojninunity Association (hereaft￿.
known as the Assocsation}, which is also a charity. The Association orgyanises a ranuie of community social and
recreatioiial activiiies and trips for woinen, the eldei'ly and childi'en. It a150 undertakes variovs fundraisinbF events in
which to raise funds foi. its own activities and that of the Company. The directOl'5 of the charitable company ai¢ also
committee m¢mbers of the Association.

independent evaluator. Risks continue to be reviewed aiinually by directoi's.
Volunteers
The charitable company is grateful for the unstinting efforts of its directors and other volunteer5 who have wntinually
supported the )¢tiviti¢s and Inana&Tement of the charitable company throughout the year. As indicated in note 7 to the
rinancial statements, the dii'e¢tors were not in receipt of any remuneration nor r¢irnburseiMenl of expenses in respect of
their services during the year.
Taxation
The charitable company is accepted as a charity by HM Revenue & Customs under reference XR44866 and th¢rcfor¢ is
exeinpt from coi'poration tax.

The ¢hai'ity has tak¢n advantage of the exemption in FRS 102 Section IA fn)m the requirement to produce a
cashflow statemeni because it is a small charity.
The pr¢5¢ntation ¢urr¢ncy of these financial statements is sterling.
3.2. Incoming re50urce5
All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when the charity is eniitled to the
iiicome aiid the amount can be quantified with I'easonable accuracy. The following specific policies are applied to
particular categoi'ies of income..
Voluntary income is received by way of grant5, donations and gifts and is included in full in the statement of
financial activities wh¢n receivable. Grants where entitlement is not coiiditional on the delivery of a specific
perforrnance by the charity, are recognised when tlie charity b￿0￿e5 uncondiiionally enliiled to the grant.
Donated services and facilities are includ¢d at the value to the charity where this can be quantified. The value of
services pi'ovid¢d by volunteers has not been included.

which have been raised by the Charity foi" pailicular purpose5. The ¢o5t of raising and admini5tei.ing sucl) funds
are charged against the specific fund. The aiTll and use of each restricted fund is set out in the note5 to the
financial statemenis.
3.6 Taxation
The company is registered as a ¢hai'i(y foi. tax purpos¢s undei. ref¢renee numbei. XR44866.
As a chariry, Douglas Bridge Cross Cominunity Association Liinited 15 exempt from tax on income and gains
falling within Seciioi) 505 of the Taxes Act 1988 01. Section 256 of che Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992 to
the extent that these are applied to its charitable objects. No tax charges have therefore arisen for the company
for the year ended 31 Decemb¢r 2021.
Impairment
A review for indicators of impairnient is can'ied out at each reporting date. with the iecovei3ble amount besng
estimptcd whei'e such indicatoi's exist. Wlieie the carrying value exceeds the recoveiable amount, the asset is
impaired accordingly. Prior impaiiments are also reviewed for possible reversal at each repoiting dale.

date of the approval of the financial statements that may impact on the charitable company's ability to continue a5
