Annual Report to the members of the Harper Adams in Ireland

Association for the year ending July 31 2023.
The year ending July 31st 2023 has been characterised by a modest recovery in
activities f rom the restrictions imposed by Corvid disease control.
Support for prospective students
During the year prospective students were identified by attendance at a
limited number of careers events in schools and by presentations given to
senior students in schools. Reassurance, encouragement and advice was given
to them and their parents on course availability, course choice, careers and
career progression.
Support for Present Students
Awards, Bursaries & Scholarships.
Your association has continued to support present students by exploring the
possibility of generating new scholarships, and by the administration of
existing awards, bursaries and scholarships. During the year 19 students from
the island of Ireland benefitted from financial support totalling £5,500. John
Thompson & Sons continued to support students with a prise valued at £1,500
recognising academic achievement and contribution to the student community

for the 21 consecutive year.
The Harper-lreland Club
Harper Adams in Ireland was instrumental in organising the guest speaker for
the Annual dinner of the student club in Harper Adams University and in
supporting the student chairman and club in other ways.
Other support
Several current students were mentored during the year on their CV
development, career opportunities. Your association continues to explore
opportunities for student work placement and employment within the island
of Ireland. One student was successfully nominated by Harper Adams in

Ireland for the award of Top Northern Ireland agricultural student awarded by
the Belfast Telegraph's Farming Life.
Underpinning Activities
Harper Adams in Ireland continues to be represented on the committee of the
Nl Schools Careers, Advisers Association (NISCA) and during the year attended
the two NISCA Conferences and other careers events on behalf of the
Association. The Association is also represented on the committee of the
Poultry Industry Education Trust. Harper Adams in Ireland is also a member of
the Guild of Agricultural journalists in Northern Ireland, regularly attends Guild
meetings and submits material relating to prospective, present and past
students to the printed press and social media.
In undertaking these activities and making this report your Association has had
regard to the Commission's public benefit requirement and statutory guidance.
Ladies and gentlemen, I commend to you the activities of your Association in
the year ending July 31st 2023, and this report to you for your approval.
