2021 Treasurer’s Report

I am pleased to report that our church’s finances are in reasonable health this year. There is however a concern with the continued decline in freewill offering. The 2021 Freewill offering was £12,774.92 and the 2020 Freewill offering was £13,181.97. It is worth pointing out that the 2015 freewill offering was £19,090.90, so we are currently quite a bit off this. The total income for the year was £29,326, noting £4,734.35 of this was freewill and other income not reported on the 2020 accounts in error. It’s worth noting that the church benefitted from a large £5,000 grant due to the impact of COVID which is considerable given the total income and won’t be in the current years accounts so can’t be relied upon for support. Total expenditure for the year £26,886.51, the main expense being Salary of our minister. It is concerning that there is increased reliance on the fundraising activities to cover costs. Without the grant income this year we would have been at a deficit and eating into our bank reserves.

The government has continued with the employer’s relief on paying National Insurance for another year, saving us around £900. We continue to rent out the house in Gleno with large success, the rent received during the year was £5,234.06 and the large expense on this being the rates of £906.30, which makes a good profit of £4,327.76.

The fund-raising activities haven’t been able to take place this year due to the ongoing COVID 19 Pandemic. This is having a severely detrimental effect on the church finances, and we need to come together to combat this.

My thanks go out to you all for your support during my year as treasurer, and hope that we are getting back to more normal life with the return of fund-raising activities.
