ECHO ECHO DANCE THEATRE COMPANY REPORT OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMirrEE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025 The 2024125 was a largely successful year for Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company with some outstanding artistic projects including festivals, partnerships and co-productions. however we must begin our rep)rt with the events that took place subsequent to this reporting period. In late April 2025. Echo Echo Dance Thealre Company received notification that its annual funding from Ihe Arts Council of Northem Ireland was discontinued with immediate effect. The decision came as a great shock wilh no warning or consultation, and after more than 20 years of continued annual funding support. The effect of this decision has been catastrophic for the company. At the end of September 2025, despite unanimous, cross-party polilical and widespread public support, Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company lost its wonderlul purpose-refurbished home building, three full-lime staff lost their jobs. and the companys ensemble artists and associate artists lost a principal source of earnings and the space where much of their work took place. Derry-Londonderry has lost beautrful spaces for a multitude of artistic activities from rehearsals, performances, concerts. exhibilions and classes for all ages and abilities. Many people have told us and written that they have had some of the most impactful moments of their lives taking part in projects, watching performances or making work in this place. We want to thank all of our audiences, friends and colleagues, from near and far, for the incredible support that you have given to us in recent months - especially people who donated so generously to the
SaveEchoE¢ho crowdfunder and who wrote letters of support. We have been genuinely humbled by the
stories of the impact of Echo Echo's work on so many. The crowdfunder donations totalled nearly £19,000 and meant that the company could keep going long enough to submit a formal complaint to the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman, pay all its debts, ensure that we have done everything possible to save the building, allow us to exit in an orderly manner. and to continue operating as a going concern. We would like to thank our landlords at Waterloo House for Iheir support and understanding. and we offer special thanks to our colleagues at In Your Space circus. Grealer Shantallow Community Arts and Studi02 who have been wonderful. We extend our deep gratitude to local polilicians, MLAS, MPS. local Council officers and communty representatives for their time, attention and unwavering support throughoul. Steve Batts directed a new multinational co-prijduction 'AII In Good Time, wsth PETEC Romania that premiered in summer 2024 in Derry and Portstewart before touring in Eastern Europe - including the National Theatre in Chisinau, Moldova, and the National Dance Centre in Bucharest, Romania. Original Echo Echo Ensemble production Winter's Dream. directed by Tonya Sheina returned by popular demand and was presented in Derry and in Irish theatres to full public and schools aUdIenS in December 2024. Work by Echo Echo artists was also presented at Dancer from the Dance Festival in Dublin (June 2024) and al Going Solo Festival in Orebro, Sweden (December 20241. as well as the Ensemble's continuing collaborations with Luxe and In Your Space Circus for major civic events including Dery Halloween, Festive Time and St Patrick's Day. Echo Echo Festival of Dance and Movement continued in 2024125 with its 1 Oth edition split across two festival events in September 2024 and March 2025. 'Tradition and Beyond.. a short festival rooted in and extending the Irish tradition, returned for a third edition in September 2024 supported by the Irish Government's Co-operation with Northern Ireland Funding Scheme. The festival welcomed Turas Damhsa Colmcille and Mary M¢Guiggan Ensemble, Aneta Dortova and William Troy, Sibéal Davitt & Una Monaghan, University of Limerick Students and Breandan de Gallal, and a fine art exhibition by Rikki van den Berg and Harry Mcmahon. curated by Sinéad Srnh. "In my 40 years of theatre experience it's rare to find an arts venue and artistic director with confidence to trust their vision and decision-making. But Echo Echo does so crucially with time, space, resources and mon8y. And this is offered with generosty and hosp¢talty in abundance." Artist feedback. Echo Echo Festival of Dance and Movement returned for its tenth international edition in March 2025 with an inspiring programme of performances and teaching by local and visiting artists including the Festival Commission by Kelly Quigley & Body Wisdom artists: John Scott's 'Cloud Study, performed by Salma Ataya and Mufutau Yusuf with music by Ryan Vail; a multinational ensemble from Dune Dance Company. Bulgaria directed by Petya Stoykova; and solo works by Hwa Wei-An (Malaysia). Love Andersson (Sweden), Grele Smitaite (Lithuania). Zoe Ramsey (Derry), Laurie Keegan Schneider (Derry). and a popular exhibition by Justine Scoltock. curated by Sinéad Smyth. Festival worked in partnership with local schools such as St Cecilia's College and Model PS, and community groups such as Fireworks Dance. The festival produced 25 different events involving 53 artists and engaging audience and participation of over 1000. "Four excepiional but very different pieces - from emolional to really funny- a rollercoaster in one hour." Audience feedback. The company continued to support a wide range of artists across different artforms with free and Iow-COSt space. equipment and lechnical support through ils Residency Programme and Associate Artist Programme - strengthening artist networks and partnerships and contributing to local cultural development. Echo Echo Associate Artist programme grew throughout 2024125 with a notable collaboration between Karen Torley of Banyan Theatre and Zoe Ramsey and Barry Davis of Echo Echo. 'Nevermore' was an original puppetry. dance and live music production inspired by Edgar Allan Poe which toured to sell-out perfomiances in Derry, Bangor, Lisburn, and Fossekleiva Kultursenter. Notway. Karen Torley and Zoe Ramsey collaborated on two more cross-arts productions created at Echo Echo Studios that toured widely throughout Ireland. north and south.

Sweden (February 2025) to critical acclaim. 'Whafs It AII AtK)ul' was an individual artist project by Tina Mccauley that was created throughout 2024 and was performed at Echo Echo Studios as part of Culture Night (September 2024). Echo Echo Studios hosted multiple other performance events through 2024125 including, to name bLrt a lew: Echo Echo Sunday Sessions curated by Kelly Quigley Adair and the Dead Thatchers performances 'Music Capital presents. concerts 'Northern Lights presents, concerts 'Ballads of the Bones, pertormances by Music Kin for Derry Halloween Banyan Theatre presents 'Little Red Riding Hood, 'DonY Let The Bugs Bite, by Karen Torfey & Zoe Ramsey Echo Echo Gallery supported the worfr of over 50 artists in 2024125 under the curatorship of Sinéad Smyth, including 'Process' by Derry Print Workshop artists Paul Barwise, Cara Donaghy and Stephanie Gaumond. 'Land-shape Dreaming, by Sinéad Smyth. the third A5 Winter International exhibition featuring work by 40 local and national artists,. and 'Soft Days, by Justine Scoltock. New cross-border and cross-artform partnerships with visual arts organisations and artists were Created including continuing collaborations with Artlink at Fort Dunree. Inishowen Artists. Retreat, Donegal Visual Arts Network. and North West Regional College. Echo Echo's award-winning Body Wisdom project with Kelly Quigley for people aged over 50 continued throughout 2024125 at Echo Echo Studios. The group meet weekly for classes and rehearsals and people travel from Derry, Claudy. Belfast, Letterkenny, Greencastle and Kilkenny (staying overnight weekly) among other places to attend. Participants engaged deeply in Echo Echo workshops with international visiting artists such as Benno Voorham (Sweden) and Dune Dance Company (Bulgaria). The group created a new improvisation performance under direction of Kelly Quigley which premiered in March 2025.. "I couldn'l believe it was over. Fantastic perlormance.. Audience Feedback. "Thal was a soul nourishing perlormance. I would love to see it a number of times over." Audience feedback. Echo Echo successfully completed a sixth Body Wisdom in the Communty programme facililated by Ensemble artists along with musicians Mark O'Dohety and Amanda Koser-Gillespie. Supported by ihe ACNI Arts and Older People Programme, The Baring Foundation and the National Lottery, this project continued to provide dance and movemenl workshops in a wide variety of local care settings including Deanfield. Eglinton, William Street and Praxis Care. Echo Echo Ensemble secured a new ACNI Flural Engagement Arts Programme award to support performance and participation events in rural areas across the west including Sion Mills. Plumbridge, Claudy, and Eglinton.

ECHO ECHO DANCE THEATRE COMPANY REPORT OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMirrEE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025 CONTINUED Financially. the company continued to manage the precarious financial situation for artists and arts organisations in Northern Ireland with its usual robust financial management and good governan by our small Board of Directors. Seeing out the 2024125 linancial year with a small surplus is testament to that. We offer our thanks to principal funders for the year, ACNI and DCSDC, and to the Garfield Weston Foundation who provided vital core funding grant support. As we bring this report on the 2024125 activities to a close, Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company viill not be the same again. It has been completely translormed by events subsequent to this year's reporting date. It is not yet a full stop as we are proud to have navigated an extremely challenging closing period through 2025, both operationally and financially, if not emotionally. and to continue as a going concern for now. Our sincere thanks again lo Ihe companys wonderful outgoing staff, artists, directors, and members. We know that there are a lot of broken hearts over the closure of Echo Echo Studios. We thank everyone who has supported us in any way over these months and across all of the studios. incredible 12 years. We will treasure the beautiful and Ihoughfful words of support about the impact of our work on so many people. FINANCIAL REVIEW The Statement of Financial Activities on page 12 details the results for the year. Overall. the Company had a net movement in of funds in the sum of £19,263. This is made up of net movement in of unrestricted funds of £4,718 and a net movement in of restricted funds of £14,545. The net movements in of unrestricted funds for the year of £4,718 has been added to the unrestricted balances brought forward from 1 April 2024 of £68,008 giving a net unrestricted balance carried loard at 31 March 2025 of £72,726. The net movements in of restricted funds for the year of £14,545 has been added to the funds balance brought forward at 1 April 2024 of £1,630, giving a net restricted fund balances carried forward at 31 March 2025 of £16,175. GOING CONCERN Just after the year end, in April 2025. the charity's principal source of funding was withdrawn at short notice. As a consequence, the trustees undertook a significant restructuring of the charitys operations. All staff were made redundanl. the charity vacated its premises, and the activities previously delivered were discontinued. The trustees have prepared budgets and cash flow forecasts covering a period of at least 12 months from the date of approval of these linancial statements. These forecasts demonstrate that the charity has sufficient resources to meet all of its liabilities as they fall due during this period. The trustees intend that the charity will continue to operate on a significantly reduced scale. supported primarily by volunteers, while seeking to sustain its charitable objectives within available resources. While the trustees believe that it is appropriate to prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis, the withdrawal of major funding and the resutting reliance on a reduced operating model give rise to a material uncertainty which may cast significant doubt on the charitys abilty to continue as a going concern beyond the short lerm.

In addressing the risk of fraud through management override of controls. testing the appropriateness of journal entries and other adjustments,. assessing whether the judg@ment made in making accounting estimates are indicative of a potentiai bias; and evaluating the business rationale of any signrficant transactions that are unusual or outside the normal course of business. We also communicated relevant identified laws and regulations and potential fraud risks to all engagement team members and remained alert to any indications of Iraud or noncompliance with laws and regulations throughout the audit. Because of the inherent limitations of an audit, there is a risk that we will not detect all irregulartties, including those leading to a material misstatement in the financial statements or non-compliance with regulation. This risk increases the more that compliance with a law or regulation is removed from the events and transactions reflected in the financial statements, as we will be less likely to become aware of instances of non-compliance. The risk is also greater regarding irregularities occurring due to fraud rather than error. as fraud involves intentional concealment, forgery, collusion, omission or misrepresentation. It is registered as a Charity with the Charity Commission Nl with effect from 21 March 2014. The charity is a public benefit entity. 2 STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting and reporting recommendations of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice and applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (Charities SORP (FRS 1021). the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006. 3 ACCOUNTIN POLICIES The principal accounting policies adopted, judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty in the preparation of the financial statements are as follows: (a) Basis of re aration The financial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basis, as modified by the revaluation of certain financial assets and liabilities and investment properties measured at fair value through profit or loss. The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the entty. {b} Pre arati n of Accounts on a Goin Concern Basis The Management Commtttee are of the view that they will receive sufficient funding to cover running costs for more than a year and on this basis the charity is a going concern. Refer to Note 15 for a more detailed narrative on Going Concern. All income is included in the Statement of Financial Activities when the charty is legally entitled to the income after any performance conditions have been met, the amount can be measured reliably and it is probable that the income will be received. Donations are included in full in the Statement of Financial Activities when received. The charity receives government and other grants in respect of their charitable aims. Income from government and other grants are recognised at fair value when the charity has entitlement after any performance conditions have been met, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. If entitlement is not met then these amounts are deferred. Id) Fund Accountin Unrestricted funds are expendable at the discretion of the Management Committee in furtherance of the objects of the charity. In addition funds may be held in order to finance capital investment and working capital. Designated funds are restricted of the charity which the Management Committee may at its discretion set aside funds for specific purposes which would otherwise form part of the general reserve ol the charity. Restricted funds are grants and donations received which are earmarked by the donor for particular areas or for specific purposes. -1

This is normally on notification of the interest paid or payable by the bank. nditure and irrecoverable VAT Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal obligation to make a payment to a third party, it is probable that settlement will be required and the amount of obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is Classified under the following activty headings: Cost of Raising Funds: comprises the cost incurred in seeking donations and funding, staging events and contacting funders and others to raise funds on behalf of the charity. Expenditure on Charitable Activities includes the costs of running all the projects and all activities undertaken to further the purposes of the charity and their associated costs. (h) Debtors and Creditors Receivable/Pa able within one ar Debtors and creditors with no stated interest rate and receivable or payable within one year are recorded at transaction price. Any losses arising from impairment are recognised in expenditure. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates. The estimates and underlyng assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the revision affects both current and future periods. ECHO ECHO DAhlCETHEATRE COMPANY NOTES ON AND FORMING PART OF THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025 15GOING CONCERN The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. Just after the year end, in April 2025, the charity's principal source of funding was withdrawn. In response, the charity ceased most of its activities, made all staff redundant. and vacated rts premises. At the date of approval of the financial statements, the trustees have prepared budgets and cash flow forecasts covering a period of at least 12 months from the date of approval. These forecasts indicate that the charity will be able to meet all of its liabilities as they fall due during this period. The trustees intend that the charity will continue to operate on a significantly reduced scale. supported by volunteers, while pursuing its charitable objeclives within the constraints of available funding. However, the wilhdrawal of the charills principal source of funding and the uncertainty surrounding the sustainability of Ihe revised operating model give rise to a material uncertainly which may cast significant doubl on the charily's ability to continue as a going concern. The financial stalements do not include any adjustments that would be required if the charity were unable to continue as a going concern. -20-
