Cullybackey Community Partnership Company limited by guarantee Trustees report Year ended 31 December 2023 The trustees present their report and the unaudited financial statements of the company for the year ended 31 December 2023. Objectlves and Actlvltles The partnership exists to benefit the inhabitants of Cullybackey and its environs and advance community development for the benefit of the public. The partnership changed its name in 2016 from Cullybackey Improvement Association. The change of name was agreed following the amalgamation of Cullybackey Improvement Association and Cullybackey Development Association. The memorandum and articles of association of Cullybackey Community Partnership have been updated. All outstanding assets and liabilities of Cullybackey Development Association were transferred to the partnership in 2017. We have concentrated on running our social enterprise and thereby providing opportunity for small business to grow. We have some very community orientated tenants who provide a service Ihrough promoting healthy activities, sUPPOrting vulnerable members of society. and caring for the wellbeing of those with poor mental health. This focus on our tenants will provide income for the charity in years to come and help secure the ability of the charity to irnprove the village of Cullybackey. Besides the social enterprise, there has been significant focus on other objectives of the charity. This includes the promotion of social inclusivity and enhancement of the natural environment. This includes the provision and maintenance of flowerbeds. growing wildflowers. establishing a small orchard, major improvements to the Riverside Path including a green gym. notice boards and developing a community garden. In relation to social inclusivity. we have engaged with the community in 2023 through the King's Coronation festival with almost 2,000 attendees, a very successful Christmas celebration event, various classes and workshops including paediatric first aid, initiation of a new pharmacy project and have supported our membership of Bann Maine West through involvement in their social enterprise project. Achievement and Performance In all activities undertaken throughout the year the trustees have had regard to the guidance provided on public benefit and have concluded that the community has evidenced the benefitthrough verbal feedback, their support at communily events and their interest in the community newsletter and Facebook. An online community suNey in January 2023 also provided positive feedback from the local community to the work of CCP as well as suggesting ideas for future activities. They have also demonstrated a pride in bringing about environment improvements. In summary the main achievements have been.. Continued management of a successful letting business for the benefit of the community. Maintenance and enhanrnent of the natural environment (including Ulster in Bloom and Gen Flag award recognition for 2023). Raised funds for the Nl Air Ambulance. Nl Housing Executive Rural Community AvRrd Promotion of social inclusion and good relations through the staging of various community activities including King's Coronation Event. Promoting the use of the new community Spa resulting in the area hosting events, classes and various meetings. Successful participation in our community cluster group activities through their renting of retail space in the Maine Business Centre to accommodate a hub and gift shop. This not only brings in rental income but also promotes community involvement and tourism. A very successful Christmas Festival Grant of £10.000 awarded by the National Lottery for summer and winter feslivals and various community classes. Group received the King's Award for voluntary Service {KAVS). Ongoing collaboration and building strong relationships with local organisations including schools, churches, youth organisations and local businesses. Page 4
Cullybackey Community Partnership Company IlmSted by guarantee TTUStees report Year ended 31 December 2023 Financial Revlew The charity continues to rely on rental receipts as its main source of income although we conlinue to seek grant funding from various sources and receive sponsorship of ourwork. Occupancy rates has almost reached 1 OODk. Use of the top floor in the Maine Business Centre has increased substantially. Normal maintenance on the building was undertaken. Plans for Future Perlods Our future plans include a concentration on environmental improvement with an emphasis on promoting tourism. We also have plans to promote a healthy lifestyle through our walking group and other health related projects including the pharmacy scheme. We already have a quarterly newsletter keeping the community informed of what is going on and we have extended this to include regular posting on Facebook. The fitting out ofthe community space has generated a considerable increase in current income. Several groups use it for their meetings, and we are just building up our educational and hobby classes. The top floor office continues to be let out on an annual basis. Participation in the village renewal scheme has led to the instsllation of an outdoor gym along the Riverside path and the erection of information boards detailing the flora and fauna in the area. This has and will continue to facilitate working with Galgonn Manor (who own the riverside path) lo bring about environmenlal improvements. Plans are in place to work with Translink on developing the Community Orchard as an outdoor teaching space for Buick Memorial School. The development of the Cullybackey Men's Shed is a key priority for 2024. We are also looking at other projects such as allotments, a community garden and other community opportunities. structure, Governance and Management Cullybackey Community Partnership is a company limited by guarantee govemed by its memorandum and articles of association. It is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. Anyone over the age of 16 who is a resident in the Cullybackey area can become a rnember. During the year there were 52 members. During the year, the charity was managed by a number of trustees with various abilities. In the interest of succession planning. we have recruited one new trustee in 2023. We hold monthly meetings and an annual general meeting. Vve operate under the guidance of a Chair and Vice Chair together with secretary and treasurer. Statement of compliance These financial statements have been prepared under the historical c05t convention and in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities (SORP 2015),, issued in July 2014 and the Companies Act 2006 Accounting policie8 Basis of preparation The financial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basis, as modified by the revaluation of certain financial assets and liabilities and investment properties measured at fair value through profi't or loss. The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the entity. Income All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when entitlement has passed to the charity. it is probable that the economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the charity and the amount can be reliably measured. The following policies are applicable to particular categories of income: Income from fundraising, donations and grant is recognised when there is evidence of entitlement, receipt is probable, and its amount can be measured reliably. Rental income is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable net of discounts and Value Added Tax. Tangible assets Tangible assets are initially recorded at cost and are subsequently stated at cost less any accumulated depreciation and impairment losses. Any tangible assets carried at valued amounts are recorded at the fair value at the date of revaluation less any subsequent accumulated depreciation and subsequent accumulated impairment losses. An increase in the carying amount of an asset as a result of a revaluation, is recognised in other comprehensive income. and accumulated in capital and reserves. except to the extent it reverses a revaluation decrease of the same asset previously recognised in profit or loss. A decrease in the carrying amount of an asset as a result of revaluation is recognised in other comprehensive income to the extent of any previously recognised revaluation increase accumulated in capital and reseNes in respect of that asset.
