Publie Boncfit
The main beiiefit is to promote citizenship and community development within the cominuiiity and voluntary
sector, meaning charities and voluntary organisations, for the benefit of the public through providing advice
and infomiation, training, conferences and seininars on subjects relevant to the etTiciency of the voluntary
sector, and representation on matters relating to government policy and legislation, leading to a more active,
engaged and participative society. Health liaising with statutory agencies to influence tliose with decision
making powers in the sector so that Health & So¢Tal Care policy and provision is Inore directly influcnced by
public experience, needs and creativity. Reaching out to tlie seldom heard groups in society (e.g. carers) thus
facilitating increased inclusion and influence for these sections of the public. Education through delivering
community education and training, bringing about an increase in public learning, knowledge and coinmunity
activism. Relief of poverty by attending relevant training workshops seminars meetings and sliaring
knowledge with wider sector to create more infomied, connected and active cominunities and advocates
within these.
Coverning Doeument
The organisatioii is a company witli charitable status. The cliarity was incorporated on 4 December 2000.
The company was established under Meinorandum & Articles of Association wliicli outlined the area of
benefit and the objects of the charitable organisation.
Risk Management
Tlie directors have a risk management strategy wliich consists of establishing a system of identifying risks and
mitigating such risks.
Results & Performance
Tlie results and perfonnance for the year of The North West Community Network are summarised in the
Annual Report, this is available on request.
Dlrectors Responsibilities In Relation To The Flnanclal Statements
Company law requires tlie directors to prepare financial statements for each financial year tliat give a true and
fair view of the state of the affairs of the charity at the end of the financial year and of its surplus or deficit for
the financial year. In doing so the directors are required to:

assets of the cliarity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other

We have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and our examination
was carried out in accordance witli the geiieral directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern

records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also included a

General information
The company is a private company limited by guai'natee, registered in Northern Ireland. The address of
the registered oifice is 8-14 Bishop Street, Derry, BT48 6PW.
1.1. Statement of complian¢o
Tlie significant accounting policies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out
below. These policies have been consistently applied to all years presented unless otlierwise stated.
The charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRSI 02. The financial statements liave
been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in notes to the accounts and comply
with tlie charity's governing document, the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 and Accounting and
Reporting by Cliarities: Statement of Recominended Practice applicable to charities preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland publislied in October 2019 (SURP 2019) and tl)e Companies Act 2006.
The financial statements are prepared on a going concern basis under the historical cost convention,
modified to included certain items at fair value. The financial statements are presented in sterling
Ivhich is the functional currency of tlie charity.
Income
(i) Grants
Grants represeiits all ainouiits received and receivable during the year.
Capital grants are r¢l¢ased to the profit and loss account in the year in which they are received in
lili¢ with tl)e SORP Accounting & Reporting by Charties 2019.
Revenue grants are credited to the Statement of Fiiiancial Activities in the year they are received.
(li) Donations & administration income.
Tliis comprises amounts received during the year.

(i) Direct Charitable Expenditure
This represents all expeiiditure directly attributable to charitable causes.

This includes all other expenditure not directly allocated above and a portion of the overhead costs
