## Trustees’ Report for the year ended 31 March 2023

## Constitution

The Charity is governed under a Constitution dated 25 April 1990, amended 16 May 2007, 8 September 2009 and subsequently on 13 January 2013. The general management of the Charity is vested in an Executive Committee elected at each Annual General Meeting.

## Objectives

The objectives of the Charity are set out in the Constitution and relate, in summary, to the provision of sports and sports facilities to disabled people. The Executive Committee directs and controls the running of the Charity and is elected annually at General Meetings in accordance with the Constitution.

## Review of the Year

Last year the season was dominated by the leak that developed at the starboard rear engine compartment of Knoticat which very nearly proved the end of the boat because we simply could not find where the leak was coming from. It was sufficiently bad that we could not ignore it.

The boat had to be taken out of service for an extended time on the slipway to try to locate the problem.

Eventually it was solved, but the only way to confirm it was fixed was to put the boat back in the water and start using it again. We were also confused by the fact that there was a considerable amount of rainwater getting into the area, but we are now sure that the problem has been fixed. We have installed a super bilge pump on that side as an insurance!

Unfortunately it was incredibly expensive in terms of money, psychological trauma for us and the loss of a large part of the sailing season.

At least we know now that Knoticat has had a proper refit, engine service etc. and is ready for the 2023 season.

We have recently been informed by the insurance company that because Knoticat is now over 50 years old, it will need a complete marine survey every five years instead of 10 years, and the irony is that if we had known sooner, this could have been completed in the long period when the boat was on the slipway…..now we have to take it out again in the Autumn or Spring just for the survey alone!

We would like to thank all our sponsors for the long term support which we have received, without which we would not have been able to carry on giving our disabled members and carers the opportunity to sail beautiful Poole Bay and the Jurassic Coast.

Our website is _www.knoticatsailing.org.uk_ .
