ASHCOTT VILLAGE HALL AGM

CHAIR’S REPORT

2023-24

Well here we are again, where has the year gone . . . .

We have had a good year with an upturn in revenue due to pub nights and other fundraisers throughout the year. The film nights were also good fundraisers, all down to Sam’s research, hard work and tenacity. We will be starting up again in November with a different type of licence which will allow us to advertise and charge admission.

Jason has had his first year in the maintenance manager’s position and has taken to the role very well. He has had great support from Peter, which has led to Jason having increased confidence, so much so he has taken a plumbing course and intends to take further courses in the new year, which will all benefit the HaIl. He also did a great job with his first Maintenance Week. This saw the main hall decorated, the stage hydraulics repaired along with the general upkeep of the hall, although the floor has had to be postponed until May. We have now taken on a weekend cleaner and a monthly gardener which is being covered by the fundraising.

On a personal note, I have used my own licence to put on the pub nights, fundraisers and the pantomime. I have also renewed my hygiene certificate at level 3 so that we are covered to put food on at our fundraisers.

We were again able to put on the children’s Christmas party for the children of Ashcott at no cost to their parents but children who attend Ashcott Primary and live outside the village were charged a small fee to cover their present from Santa.

We are looking forward to the Ebbw Fach choir returning and we have a DJ for this New Year’s Eve.

So, in closing I would like to say a thank you to everyone on the committee for their continued support and a special thanks to the mighty 5 who help out with every event we put on.

Many thanks

Deb
