## **Annual report 2023** 

Another busy and successful year for the unit. The unit’s capacity for the year has been on average 32 Guides, 2 Young Leaders and 3 Leaders. We also rely on parent help for some meetings.  In August a party of 38 members of the unit went on an amazing 10-day trip to Adelboden in Switzerland. Staying in a self-catering chalet and experiencing many exciting visits and activities including to “Our Chalet” the first international Girlguiding centre. Following the pinning ceremony a number of Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards were presented at Our Chalet, the presentations were live streamed back to the parents to watch. A large amount of fund raising went on in the previous 18 months to the trip allowing us to subsidise the trip for all participants by almost 40%. This included a 2-day pre-week end in Feb 23. Where the Guides were included in the preparation for the trip and decisions on the programme, trip uniform and menu. 

We also ran a patrol leader training weekend in the September as following covid we found that may team leadership skills had been lost. 

We also took part in the county organised cinema trip and sleep over in a Library. 

In 2024 we are planning a trip to the Park House a guide centre in Hawkshead in the Lake District which will include activities such as climbing, Ghyll scrambling, low level fell walking and a trip on Lake Windermere, again this trip will be subsidised from fund raising.
