WEST NORFOLK ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION Chèrity No. 803651 INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 I report to the tru5tee5 on my examination of the accounts of West Norfolk Islamic Association I'the charity'l lor the year ended 31 March 2024 which cornprise the summary of receipts and payments and the statement of a$5ets and liabilities. This report is Made solely to the charity's trustees, as a body, in actordance with section 145 of the Charities Act 2011. My work has been undertaken so that I might stare to the charity's trustees those matters l am required to State to them in this report and lor no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than rhe charity and the charitls trustees as 3 body. for my work, for this report, or lor the opinion5 1 have forme(S. Responsibilities and basis of report As the trustees of the charitv VOU are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirement5 ol the Charities Act 20111'the Act'l. I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out rny examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 1451Sllbl of the Act. An independent examination does not involve gathering all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently does not cover all the mètrers that an auditor considers in giving their opinion on the accounts. The plannin8 and conduct ol an audit goes beyond the limited assurance that an independent examination carn provide. WEST NORFOLK ISLAMIC A550CIATION Charity No. 803651 TRUSTEES, REPORT ICONTINUEDI YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 Achievements and performance Regular prayeis are held at the Mosque. with Friday prayers being very well attended. The Mosque can accommodate up to 80 people at any one time. with thè Associ3tion now reaching out to between 150 and 200 people in the local area. In addition to regular prayers. classes are held within the Mosque to aid members in their learning and understanding oflslam. Friday evening classes are held for adults on an ad hoc basis. and Monday to Friday 5.'OOpm 6..30pm lexcept school holidaysl classes are held lor children. Flnanclal Revièw The principal source of funding continues to be donations from members of the community. Many members have set up regular standing orders to the A550ciation, and collections are regularly held at Friday prayers to help with the general runnin8 costs of maintaining the Centre. As in previou5 years, the associarion continues to claim Gift Aid on donations received in the furtherance of the charities aims and objectives. The rnain cost in the year is the Imam's wage. Other key costs include light and heat. water rates and donarions to help aid the Morrocco earthquake and Palestine. General running Costs ol the charity appear quite reasonable, with donations coverin8 costs. The Association aims to maintain 3 minirnum reserve ol £5,000, as this would ensure that the minimal operating costs, such as utilities and insurance, for the Islamic Community Centre and Mosque could be met.
