GOLF GREEN HALL TRUST
TRUSTEES' REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2026
Structure, governance and management
Under a deed dated 20 October 1989, the Golf Green Hall is held as a public charitable trust for the purposes of a village hall for the use of the inhabitants of Tendring District and the neighbourhood and visitors thereto.
The hall is managed by a committee of management who are elected at the Annual General Meeting.
Objectives and activities
The objectives for GGH remain the same, namely a community hall that is inclusive and has the community at its heart. In addition, the Committee is keen to build upon the success of the REPF grant and is actively looking at other sources of funding to assist with costs that are above and beyond the day to day running of the hall.
The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the charity should undertake.
Achievements and performance
Directly provided clubs - Golf Green Hall directly provides 2 bingo clubs (Wednesday and Friday) plus our Saturday tabletop sale. We also launched GGH Lunch Club back in February, thanks, in part, to a grant from the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) which was used to supply new equipment – the lunch club is thriving with currently 61 members. The combined incomed from the two bingo clubs was £4,500, tabletop was £5,700 and the two months of the lunch club generated £770 of income.
Clubs - As well as long standing clubs of leisure club, footlights (amateur dramatics), ladies’ friendship, knit n natter, full circle, Jaywick history society, keep fit, just tennis, sequence dancing, country dancing, curling, good companions and Clacton dancer, we have welcomed two new clubs – Cancer rehab and exercise plus Hope Fields (for children under 11), both of which are helping us to meet our objective of inclusion.
Private parties - We continue to be a good choice for both adults and children’s parties and we are pleased that we have received many new bookings for a variety of cultural backgrounds. Private parties accounted for £3,625.00 of our annual income.
Regular expenditure – As well as our weekly cleaner and monthly window cleaner, we changed our caretaker at the beginning of 2026 as well as took on a new gardener. Both of whom were known to Hall users and the wider community and who are an asset to our day-to-day management.
Utilities – The cost of living has not passed GGH by and although our water and electricity only increased by 4%, the gas increased by 49%. It is hoped that the proposed roof works will help to address this and lay the foundations for a grant application for solar panels.
Financial review
At 31 March 2026, the balance in the deposit account was £5,133 and of the current account was £7,725.
The Trust aims to reinvest into the upkeep and improvement of the hall and grounds for the benefit of the community. In addition, there is a plan to seek external funding for substantial restoration of the hall floor and surrounding floor area as well as other external funding for substantial improvement, for example solar panels. Any surplus is to be invested to obtain the highest rate of interest.
The total income for the year amounted to £37,137.

Independent examiner's statement
Your attention is drawn to the fact that the charity has prepared financial statements in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) in preference to the Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice issued on 1 April 2005 which is referred to in the extant regulations but has now been withdrawn.
I understand that this has been done in order for financial statements to provide a true and fair view in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practice effective for reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2015.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

-
2 the financial statements do not accord with those records; or
-
3 the financial statements do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirementthat the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
