## FRIENDS OF OAKFIELD SCHOOL Trustee Report for the Year Ended 31st August 2025

In 2024-25, Friends of Oakfield Junior School (FOOJS) raised £21,192 and donated £4,621 to the school. Funds at 31% August 2025 stood at £65,552.

60% of donations to the school this year were made to cover the essential educational support resources of Doodle, TT Rockstars and Spag.com. FOOJS provided the planners again in 2024 and the remaining donations covered treats for the children throughout the school year.

FOOJS continues to support the school’s plan for a new Arts and Wellbeing Centre, to be constructed on the top playground in place of existing structures and is maintaining most of its reserves from general fundraising to contribute towards this major project. A minimum of £5,000 is being held for regular commitments to support educational enrichment at the school for the following academic year with the remainder of the unrestricted funds being available for the Arts and Wellbeing Centre. Ideas for pupil enrichment are, however, always welcome and FOOJS would be open to proposals from the whole school community.

The wildlife pond refurbishment project began in 2022-23. Whilst the pond area itself was completed, there is an additional £2,056 remaining to add seating to the adjacent playground area, so it can be used for outdoor lessons at the pond and more generally. Purchase of the seating was delayed due to the playground surface requiring an upgrade but some options have now been identified and should be in place early in the 2025-26 academic year.

The FOOJS administrative expenses at £1,134 were higher than typical this year. More funds were invested in updating essential equipment required for fundraising events, for example, gazebos, storage boxes, hot water urns and glasses.

- The FOOJS committee and the wider school community were very busy over the year organising fundraising events. Three large events took place: e £8,893 raised from the fireworks event. e £897 raised from a colour run. e £2,720 raised from the annual summer fair.

It takes considerable time and effort from many volunteers to make these events enjoyable and profitable and FOOJS would like to thank everyone for taking part. In particular, FOOJS must thank Sally Cooke, school business manager, for project managing the 2024 fireworks event and Pete Morton, caretaker, for being on hand at all FOOJS events.

Several other events were organised for both the children’s and adults’ enjoyment. A well-attended quiz night raised £921; two school discos raised a total of £1,059; an Easter egg hunt raised £370; and the children’s Christmas gift designs raised a further £491.

FOOJS successfully applied for a Tesco Stronger Starts grant. £1,497 was awarded which will be invested in new equipment for the LAN Centre in 2025-26.

Funds were also raised from annual activities and initiatives including small lotteries; selling refreshments; secondhand uniform sales; textile recycling and the much-loved Halloween pumpkin display on show to the wider Fetcham community. FOOJS also attended the Fetcham Festival event with a games stall raising £156.

- Cash contributions were received from local businesses to sponsor, attend and advertise at FOOJS events: e £1,670 towards the 2024 fireworks event, including £1,000 sponsorship from Cunningham Eves. e £1,320 towards the summer fair including £640 from Innovex Consulting.

Other businesses donated prizes for two raffles that were run during the year raising a total of £1,146 anda third raffle from school community contributions raised £705.

FOOJS would like to sincerely thank all these businesses and external organisations for their generosity and continuing support of Oakfield Junior School. FOOJS investment of its funds raised £1,577 in bank interest.
