Kingsmlll Trust
Independent Examinatlon (IE) of Accounts for year ending 31 March 2021
4th lune 2021
Work Undertaken
The IE was undertaken based on ]nforn￿tion supplied by Rt'chard Meryon.
The Accounts are prepared on a receipts and payments basis
Bank account statement copies cover the while accounting period
An Excel spreadsheet was provided that analysed the receipts and payments into category
columns to match payments with receipt&
No independent verification ofthe documentation was undertaken, other than receipts and
invoices on file, and no third party support for the transactions was sought or received. The IE
does not represent an audit
Detailed work performed
Opening and dosing balances were reconciled to the bank statements and balances b/f and
c/f were agreed. Multiple balances through the year were agreed to bank statements.
Multiple receipts and payments were agreed between the Excel analysis and the bank
statements. Attached is a list of specific transactions looked at in detail and the physical
documents seen. These included all the large payments made following the Sheila Martin
egacy. I was satisfied with the explanations given to me that all these pa￿ents were within
the remit of the Charity.
Some items were categorised incorrertly and this was corrected.
Gift Aid receipts were changed to categories that reflert the origins from the HMRC returns.
This should always be the case going forward.
I reviewed several bank receipts that were not from the Meryon family and was satisfied
with the explanations provided as to the reasons for the receipts, and that the designated
recipients or causes accompanying those receipts had been made.
I checked in some detail the documentation surrounding the Sheila Martin legacy and was
satisfied with the explanations provided to m&
I requested a commentary on all standing order payments and again was satisfied that the
payments were within the remitofthe Charity
I reconciled all the b/f balances with the annual income and receipts and agreed the c/f
balances as per the attached reporL
Concluslon
No material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which
give me cause to believe that in any material resp￿ the accounting records do not reflect the
transactions entered into by the Trust for the year. or that the accounts do not reflect the
accounting records.
