THE ISRAEL LAZARUS CHARrrABLE TRUST NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 5 APRIL 2026 Accountlng policies (continued) 18 Flnanclal Ingtruments The Tnjst has elected to apply Sections 11 and 12 of FRS 102 in respect of financial instruments. Financlal assets and financial liabilities are recognised when the Trust becomes paty to the Contractual provlsions of the Inslrumant. Financlal Ilabilities and equity instruments are classified according to the substsnce of the contractual arrangements entered into. An equity inslTumenl is any contract that evidences a residual interest in the assets of the Trust after deducting all of its liabilities. The Trust's policies for 11$ major classes ot Ilnancial assets and financlal Ilabililies are set out below. Financial assets Basic financial assets, including trade and other debtors, cash and bank balances, inlercompany working capital balances, and inlercompany financing are initially recogni$ed at transaction price, unles3 the arrangement constitutes a financing Iransaclion, where the Iransa¢lion is measured at the present value of the future receipts discounted al a market rate of interest for a similar debt instrument. Financing transactions are those in which payment is deferred beyond normal business terms or is financed at a rale of interest that is not a market rate. Such assets are subsequently carried al amortised ¢o$t using the effective inter&st method, less any impaiment. Flnanclal Ilibllltles Basic financial liabilities, including trade and other creditors, bank loans, loans from follow group companies and preference shares that are ¢la$srfied as debt, are initially recognised al transaction price, unless the arrangement conslltule$ a financing Iransaclion, where the debt instrument is measured al the Present value of the future payments discounted al a market rate ol interest for a similar debt inslrumenl. Financing transactions are those in whlch payment Is deferred beyond normal business terms or is financed al a rate of interest that is not a market rate. D8bl In$trum8nts aro subsequently carrled al amortised cost, using the effective interest rale method. Impairmont of finan¢141 as¥ots Financial assets measured at ¢0st and arnortlsed cost are assessed at the end of each reporting period for objective evidence of impairment. If objective evidence of impairment is found. an impaimient loss is recogni5ed in the statement of financial aclivilies. For fi'nancial assets measured al cost less irnpairmenl, the impaimient loss is measured as the difference between the assevs carrying amount and the best esllmale of the amount the Trusl would receive for the asset if it were to be sold al the reporting date. For financial assets measured at amortised cost, the impairment loss is measured as the dlfference between the asset's carying amount and the present value of estimated cash flows discounted al the asset's original effective interest rate. If the financial asset has a variable interest rate. the discount rate for measuring any impairment loss is the current effective interest rale determined under the eontNgcI. If there is a decrease in the impaimienl loss arising from an event occurring after the impairment was recognised, the impairment is reversed. The reversal is such that the current carrying amount does not exceed what the carrying amount would have been had the impairment not previously been recognised. The impairment reversal is recognised in the statement of financial aclivilies. Page 10
